This is probably one of the most spontaneous things I've ever done.

For the past couple of years, since I was 13, now I am 19, I've been a geek. I read, I win awards in math and physics and I spend more time on my computer than on anything else. Yes, I'm a loser. I wanted L33T (I know it should be 1337 or 31337 to be 1337 sp34k, but I've used L33T for years and I like the way it looks better than 1337) branded onto my calf. I decided that was a bad idea.

I was out with my friend Tina, Andrea and Elsa. We had went to Burlington for supper and Tina wanted to make a tattoo appointment. ****, a cool guy from Florida with some awesome tattoos tried to talk her into getting it that night. She said she didn't want to because she hadn't taken her anti-anxiety meds, so I told her I'd get her some Seroquel (anti-psychotic, it would have knocked her off her ass) out of my car, she refused and then said, "Why don't you get a tattoo?".

I counted my money, I had $33, all in change. Ya, I suck. So she gave me a $20 and the shop minimum was $40, so I was set. I wrote down what I wanted on a piece of paper with my skakey (lithium, mood stabilizer) hands. **** went to the back, we all followed, then Tina and Andrea went outside. Elsa held my purse. **** set up and went to start, he was holding my lip down (after rinsing it with alcohol, yum) and just about touched me when he changed his mind on positioning. We swapped chairs, and tried again.

He said he would wait until the other artist was done so I could lay down on a chair and make life easier. My hands were too shakey to hold my lip down. Tina and Andrea asked if it was done when I wandered outside and I said it wasn't. I suggested I get tattooed on the couch and flipped over it backwards, and then Tina came and molested me! We goofed around a bit until the chair was free and then everybody squished into ****'s area, which was quite big.

I was laying down in a dentist like chair. I hate dentists, and this was work inside my mouth. I wasn't too terribly nervous, I figured it wouldn't hurt. I was wrong. The pain was intense and annoying. It made me feel like I was at the dentist. It only hurt for the first line, after that I just heard buzzing. When he finished I rinsed with Listerine and got the black ink off of my face. I looked at it. I didn't really like it. The L didn't look like an L, it was small, and it kind of decreased in size as the word went on. I figured it would heal decently.

I went home and attempted to put something on it so it wouldn't fade much. It didn't work. Healing was fairly uneventful. I rinsed my mouth with salt water once in a while and tried not to suck or chew on my lip.

It finally healed. It didn't fade much. I wish it would have. The second 3 blew out really badly, and looked like 9. L39T. Fuck! The L kind of separated the | from the _. It was embarrassing. I forgot I had it most of the time and never really showed anybody. I went to the shop where it was done and talked to the owner. He said that was one of the risks, that's why he never did them. Great. I should have been informed more of the risks. I knew it wouldn't stay perfect, but I didn't know it would blow out and look terrible like that.

The artist basically told me that I have enough tattoos, I should know how to take care of it. Well, I don't have any in my mouth. I went to another shop and showed them the monstosity in my mouth. They said he must not have used a single needle. I didn't ask. (stupid!) He said it could be touched up to look decent, but it probably wouldn't look that great. He used me as an example to some girls that wanted inner lip tattoos.

It was partially my fault. It was spontaneous, I should have done my research. Unfortunately I'm left with a shitty tattoo. I tried to take good care of it, but it just didn't work. Some words of advice. If you want an inner lip tattoo, be prepared for it to fade. It's not the most pleasant feeling in the world. After its done it feels like you've bit your lip. Ask the artist how many needles are being used. One needle hurts more, but it won't end up terrible like mine. So good luck, and happy tattoos.
