After over a year of waiting, I finally got my first tattoo. There were a few things holding me back from getting one. A) I am poor. B) I don't have a car, and no one would drive me and finally C) i have overly sensitive skin, and feared being allergic to it, which would be a situation im far to lazy to deal with.

My friend was also getting one..this being his second. We had been in Snapdragons before but it was only for piercing's.
The tattoo I had decided on was Screeching Weasel's "weasel" logo, "a smiling weasel wearing a leather jacket with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth". I figured if I don't like the band in 10 years "which is doubtful" I'll always have a cool lil cartoon weasel on me. The next step was where on my ugly body to put it, I decided the side of my leg would be just fine because I can cover it up if need-be and show it off just as easily.
We went into snap dragons at around 2:00 which was when my appointment was scheduled for, Joynt, puttered around for a while and then came and started talking to all of us, snap dragons was clean and covered in pictures and drawings, and full of tattoo magazines to look at which helps when you are getting tattooed to take your mind off of everything.
When I showed Joynt "the artist" at snap dragons tattoo studio the picture I wanted, he walked away and photocopied it, however his photocopier decided to be a piece of crap that day, and not work...which meant he had to free-hand it on me. That made me kind of nervous, however I got this far I wasn't about to turn around now. So I said okay, and he proceeded to doodle my favorite punk band's logo on me, I looked it over and was very satisfied, the whole time he was muttering "a fuc&%ing weasel, he's getting a weasel," then he would laugh, and repeat himself again. After that he got his needles and ink situated. Since I have never gotten a tattoo before, he said he would do a "dry run" just to give me an idea of how it would feel, it wasn't all that bad, and told him to go for it. Turns out that it hurt a lot more in areas he didn't "dry run" over...but it was tolerable.
I found the out-line to be a little bit more painful than the colouring, as I have read on the internet before, but every bit of it was well worth it, and now I have my Weasel forever. The total process took a fairly long time, because there's a lot of different colours in my tattoo, to my surprise some colours hurt more than others to get done, black hurt the least and I think yellow or white hurt the most, I assume this was because the lighter the colour the harder you have to push? Joynt was good about the whole process, taking little breaks to let me stretch my leg or maybe just he needed a smoke....but he's a great artist that makes the experience a lot better. The only problem with my tattoo was that there's a lot of white and yellow in it which Joynt said makes it hard to see what's skin and what's not and causes for more touch ups in the end, but in fact my weasel was coloured really well and when it healed, there wasn't much colour to add.
I was told that i would regret this tattoo...it's been about 5 months, but every time I look at it im more happy with it.
Also it turns out I am not allergic to tattoo ink, which is always a bonus.
My tattoo didn't take long to heal at all, it scabbed quickly, but I mistakenly used a white moisturizing cream, which caused a rash around my tattoo, I would recommend "Tattoo Goo" which I used on my other tattoos, it worked a lot better! I could go for touch ups about a month after which Joynt told me was unusual. I still haven't got touch ups, but am going to touch up my weasel and the rest of my tattoos during the summer.
Very soon after I was contemplating what I should get for my next tattoo, proving my first experience to be a good one!
I would recommend snap dragons to you, if you were ever in Sarnia and wanted some ink
Thanks for reading my stupid lil experience, and I will hopefully have some pics of this tattoo and other ones i have..plus my future ones on the site ASAP.
