Disclaimer: Don't try this. Something could go horribly wrong. I had a friend with me just in case something did go wrong. Always use sterile equiptment. Research, research, research! Oh ya, don't do what I did.

I bought a bunch of hooks off Ebay expecting to suspend at my friends house. To make a long story short, he hates me now and has all my suspension stuff.. 8ga hooks, rope, needles.. I had a rig all planned out too, but I was lazy and never got the supplies together, which is a good thing, or else he'd have all my stuff. Now, I'm not too impressed about this, but I did keep some of the hooks. They're 10ga. I bought a bunch of Mustad hooks on Ebay.

I was bored one day and going through my drawer and found the hooks. I took one upstairs and tried to use pliers to get the barb off. My dad walked inside and I asked how I could get the barb off. He took it outside and filed it off with something (I'm in no way mechanical!) in a couple of seconds, and gave me the hook, no questions asked. I grabbed my (sterile) 12ga needle and was about to unpackage it when.. Ring! I had to go pick up my friend at the bus station. So I put away my supplies and picked him up.

When I got home I needed working space. I decided to do it in my room (which has no door, I have beads, which sucks because I have no warning if someones coming in, unless I hear them coming down the stairs, and I did NOT want my dad to see what I was doing) rather than the bathroom. I needed a surface to lay my supplies on. I went through the laundry and found my 1500 BME Experiences shirt. It wouldn't mind a bit of blood.

I took the filed-off hook and disinfected it in bleach, then soaked it in hot water to get the bleach off, then soaked it in peroxide, followed by another hot water soak. I wanted to get the bleach off. It is a good disinfectant, dilluted, but I sure didn't want to get any inside me. When I was certain the hook was a reasonable amount of clean I went to work. I had already washed my hands with soap and peroxide, which I repeated after the disinfecting of the hook.

Now to find some rope. Easier said than done. I looked on my dressor and saw some 2mm hemp. I Grabbed one end with each hand and pulled as hard as I could. It didn't break. So I went and found some scissors, cut a good length of hemp, disinfected my hands (I wish I had gloves at this point) and tied the hemp to the hook. Now for the fun part: Piercing myself.

I had decided to use my forearm. Mostly because I pierce my arms a lot, with various sized needles. I unpacked the 12ga needle and broke out some pure vitamin E capsules. I poured them into a little container and used it as lube. I set the hook in the vitamin E. My friend sat beside me as I took out a surgical marker and measured the hook to my skin, and using one hand, I grabbed the skin and positioned the needle. I pierced it through fairly quickly, even though my skin is like leather. I took the hook, for the part I thought was going to suck, put the end in the needle, and pushed it through in one smooth movement. It caught a bit where the barb used to be.

Cool. I had a hook in my arm. My friend took a picture. What to pick up. I saw my backpack that I use as a purse, but it was too small. So I went and grabbed my Niagara College laptop case which was empty. It weighs about 2lbs. I tied the hemp to it and laid it on the ground on its side, and lifted it to a standing position and then off the ground. It burned, but it went away once it was off the ground for a few seconds. I asked my friend what subject should I 'study'. We chose Abnormal Psychology, which is about a 4lb textbook. I set the case down, and didn't untie myself, and I put the Abnormal Psychology textbook in the case.

I repeated lay it down and slowly pulling it up. Same feeling, just more intense. Cool. I swung it around for a bit. I added my (about 1lb) Philosophy novel into it and repeated the process. Then I went for the big one: Physics. I emptied the laptop case and put my (about 5lb) Physics book into the case and lifted it no problem. So, I decided to 'study' some Calculus (about 6lb). It took me a minute but I lifted it and my friend took a picture. I swung it around for a bit and then unhooked myself. Squeezing the air out was fun.

I hadn't had enough, obviously. So, I chose my left leg and pierced above my knee, horizontally, which I realized was a stupid idea. As I lifted my leg the hook would dig into it. I figured out a way to do it without the digging in, but I could only manage Abnormal Psychology because of the way the hook was. It burned like hell raising it off the ground, but the second it was off the ground the pain stopped. I decided I'd do the same thing on the right leg, but vertically. This is where it gets fun.

I started to pierce my leather-like skin above my knee. Then I hear my father come downstairs. I covered my leg. Then he went upstairs. I pierced it all the way through and set up the hook to follow through and he came downstairs again. Shit. Then he went upstairs and I heard him start his truck and pull out of the driveway. Sweet.

I attatched my knee to the laptop case and lifted it, empty. Then I added Abnormal Psychology. I got to Physics and had enough. I took the hook out, squeezed out the air (I ruined Rice Krispies for my friend, after I told him this story) and let it bleed. My arm bled a lot.

I HAD to do more. I found a fleshier spot on my left arm and pierced it, quite deep. When I pulled on the hook my hand tingled a bit. Thats a pretty good idea to STOP, but I was flying on adrenaline and didn't care. I ended up lifting my Physics and Calculus textbooks and then stopped for the day. I hung the hook up on my wall after cleaning it.

I don't suggest you try this. Especially unsupervised. I could have gone into shock. Something could have gone wrong with the piercings. Bad things could have happened.

The next day my arm and knees hurt pretty badly. The day after that they bruised pretty nicely. It still hurt to bend my knees. I felt it was worth it, and I had a lot of fun.
