My parents never really approved of piercings, so when I became interested in them, I tried to stick to my ears. After my tragus and conch, I was tired of that and became interested in surface piercings.

It took me forever to go into the shop and actually get it done because I was scared that it would hurt a lot and that my parents would kill me. Neither happened, so I wanted more.
Once again I was one the site looking around for something new, something not many people I knew had. I stumbled across a picture of a micro dermal and I thought it looked sweet. I remembered Nikki telling me about them the first day I was in her shop and I decided to do more research.
But I forgot about it for a while, and then during March break I went into Adept to get my tattoo touched up and I decided to ask about micro dermals. I asked the normal questions, rejection, cost, how many she had done in the past. I decided that I had to have one of these. For the next two weeks I told all my friends about it to see what they thought. My friend always joked around about me getting my arm pierced, because that wasn't a place you'd think of getting pierced. But I thought it was the perfect place. I would be able to see it whenever I wanted to, not when I had a mirror. And I thought it would be a good conversation starter.
So I planned to go on a Wednesday with my friend Nick. But plans fell through and we ended up going that Saturday when I got off work.
I wasn't nervous at all, surprisingly, until I walked in the shop. And even then, I knew I had nothing to worry about. I talked to the guy at the desk and he told me Nikki would be back in a bit, that she was just out getting a bite to eat. So we sat and waited, looked at some sweet Tattoos done by Eddie and Amber.
When Nikki got back, we were both pretty excited to do this. I didn't even have a problem walking over to the bench or anything. I just wasn't very nervous.. But then, I saw the needle. It was hollow and had a slanted edge. I couldn't even imagine that going into my arm!
She sat down beside me and explained that she would put the needle in three different ways to make a pocket under my skin, then the jewelry would just pop in. After about five minutes of heavy breathing I decided to let her go ahead and do it. I was going to do it sometime, and how bad could it really be?
So she squeezed the skin on my arm and stuck it in. I was watching, which I was never able to do for any of my other piercings, and after it went in, I had to look away. Just thinking about it now makes me queasy. So I felt the first part and then the little last one. And it really wasn't painful, it was mostly just pressure. It didn't have that burning feeling I felt for my other piercings. She then took the jewelry and put the first little foot in, and I thought it was done, but it wasn't; there was still the other side and the hole she made wasn't quite big enough. So she took the jewelry out and made the pocket a little bigger and then the jewelry went in fine and it was all over.
She held a swab over it for a couple of minutes and then put a bandage on it. She told me about aftercare instructions, gave me a sheet, and some bandages for the next four nights.
I went out that night and I didn't even realize it was there! I forgot all about it, it just didn't hurt at all. But the next morning when I took the bandage off around it hurt, and only because Im allergic to the adhesive on the bandage. And other than that, its amazing.
It looks healed, although I know its not, it's only been a week. But I don't even know its there most times. I catch it on things, and I freak for a minute, but then I realize that it doesn't hurt and that I didn't rip it out. Its so pretty, and if I ever get another piercing, I will get another one of these for sure.
Everyone always asks me about it too. The questions I get most often are: "Is that glued on there?" "Where does it come out..?" "How does it say in there". It's definitely the sweetest thing ever. I love it.
