At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Carl Studio Bodz Location Liverpool UK I love body modifications! I love the way they look, I love what they say, and I love the build up and then the buzz. There is not one part of the experience that I don't not love. The piercing that I have are about me and who I am. They make me feel good about myself. I feel "cool" because of them and proud.
I have got a tongue, helix and hood piercing at the moment and have retired 2 nose piercing (what a pain in the arse they are) and an eyebrow.
Each time I decide on a new piercing it usually follows this pattern
1) Yuk...would not get that done
2) Hmmm would love that but haven't got the bottle
3) Right I'm getting it done and NOW.
Once my mind is made up I can't think of anything else.
This piercing I had never even thought of until a few days ago. I was looking at the piccies on this site and thought I yep I want one too. I originally wanted my hand pierced running pararell to my thumb. The next day I rang a studio and they said that it wouldn't stay and is not a good idea. So I rang another studio, same story. And then another and another (there is about 10 in about 15 minutes of where I live). Only one studio said that they would do it and did not give any advice about how it would take or problems of after care. I had a think about it and decided that this probably was not a great piercer.
I then rang back Bodz studio to discuss what I wanted and to see what they could suggest and its then that a wrist piercing was mentioned. I looked down at my wrist and loved the idea so I made an apt for the following evening.
Next day I was all excited but I hadn't checked my diary when making the apt and it looked like I would probably be working late and wouldn't get to the apt on time. I am rubbish at organising my time. So I had a plan, I rang the studio and re-arranged for my lunch hour. I took an extended lunch and headed off to the studio having to drive in busy city traffic after only getting my licence 2 weeks before. But I was so excited I didnt care.
I got there and had a chat to the co owner of the studio, her husband is the piercer. She was really friendly and welcomed me and knew who I was ( I know I had only called about an hour before but still it impressed me!).
Then Carl the piercer came over to explain the procedure and the after care. He explained that they will be using PMFK jewellery as this is the safest and he drew me a little picture of how the piercing works and what layers of skin it goes through. The bar is right angled rather than rounded and I have to say that I was feeling a bit spaced by this. It seemed like it would hurt like hell.
Anyway he then sets up and calls me into the piercing room which is all very very clean. He asks me to sit up on the bed with my arm on my thigh and he will work on it that way. Next he marks it out and we are ready. Carl explained that this type of piercing is a slow one but its not too bad. Then he tells me to take a deep breath in and let it out quickly which I did do. I honestly thought he was going to give me one go at practicing this breathing technique before starting but no, hes in. Then he asks me to do it again, and goes along and once more and he finishes the piercing by bringing the needle out the other side.
Now I know piercings hurt but I dont really have an issue with the pain. You get a bit for a second and then its over. This piercing though because it is a surface one feels different in my head than the other more common ones, I thought I would be running around the room waving my hand in the air. But I can honestly say it was so ok. I didnt flinch, my eyes didnt water, I didnt take a sharp breath...nothing. No pain what so ever.
Then Carl threaded the jewellery though. And then screwed the balls on. And we were done. He put on a water proof dressing that I will get changed once a week in the studio. Thats the healing process. After that the jewellery will get cut down as its a slight bit to big while it heals.
I went back to work and showed everyone.
Now I cant stop staring at it. Its lovely and had=s been no trouble at all. Aftercare is so easy; I just leave it the hell alone and get the dressing changed once a week. Thats it.
I would recommend Bodz studio to everyone in Liverpool. I have been to most in this area for different piercings but this one is by far the best. Now Im thinking of getting a few more surface piercings in the shape of a star. Will have to wait for payday though.
