I do NOT recommend doing what I did unless you have complete and total trust in your piercer.

My triangle was my first "below the belt" mod. I currently have 21 piercings and have been pierced well over 50 times. My piercer, Chuck, has done about 90% of my piercings.

I knew that when I started getting interested in getting a triangle that I needed to do my research. Well, that didn't go so well because everybody says something different. I looked at pictures and decided that a triangle was the one I wanted, for sure.

I go in and talk to Chuck. He was a bit happy because he had asked me about genital piercing before because my favorite thing to do is have him stick a needle in me, but I wasn't interested. When I told him what I wanted to do he said, "You would be my first triangle."

Most people would start panicking right now. The thing is, I completely and totally trusted him ... and my trust proved to be well-founded. Obviously only senior piercers should be allowed to do a genital piercing, but like I said, I totally trust the man and I do NOT recommend getting an uncommon piercing from a piercer who has never done one before unless you have complete faith in said piercer.

Dead Rockstar is clean, and they are very up-front about everything: price, healing, risks (i.e., rejection, how to avoid infection), and benefits. I have never had a bad experience with Chuck and this proved to be no exception. I told him flat out that I trusted him completely and that if he's going to do a piercing for the first time, let me be his guinea pig because I'm not going to freak out on him if anything were to go wrong, I can handle the pain, and not to mention, I get the piercing for free (including jewelry) because I'm letting him test out his modification skills. The man knows that I usually need a glass of water after he's done with the procedure. He also usually just turns the fan on automatically. I needed neither this time.

Chuck does all the things he needs to do to get set up: sanitizing EVERYTHING, explaining to me what he would need to do, and cleaning me up beforehand. I'm really uncomfortable. You'd think that since he's done my nipples I'd be less uncomfortable but no. I was still really uncomfortable, but once he started doing what he needed to do to get me ready for the poke I started to relax. He took his time. He kept saying, "I'm not being a pervert. I just want to make sure I have the placement correct." He kept asking me questions about how it felt: if there was pressure, if there was pain, if there was pressure and pain as he was clamping and pushing on different spots.

He's good to go. He's ready when I'm ready.

I must have sat there making him wait for two or three minutes. I was scared. I thought I was going to bail on the man. Then I just said, okay let's do this. Chuck waits for me to take my deep breath in, makes sure I'm going to actually breathe out (I have a tendency to just hold it in) and he pokes.

Thank god he got all the way through. I absolutely despise that second jab that you sometimes get and he knows I would rather him just go all the way through on the first time and not do the second (and I think more painful) poke. Well, I jerked and pulled back ... and immediately started apologizing.

He said, "Don't worry about it. Every genital piercing I've done a person has jerked. It's an odd sensation." He gets the jewelry in. I'm clutching my friend Amy. We are laughing hysterically. I have no idea why I was laughing so hard, but she was laughing because I was laughing. It hurt quite a bit, but only when he was actually piercing. Other than that it was just uncomfortable. As he was cleaning me up he was poking around asking me about the pressure and pain and I can honestly say, it felt way better than I thought it was going to. I did not look at it. He tried to get me to look at it. I told him I honestly had no desire to look at my hoo-ha at that particular moment in time.

He asked if I ever felt comfortable doing so, if he could take a picture because it was his first triangle. I told him that would be fine, but he had to wait. They are very discreet and wouldn't tell a customer if another customer had their ear pierced.

It's uncomfortable to sit down too fast. And crossing my legs is impossible. But it feels perfect. It feels like it's healing properly, it doesn't feel the greatest, but I'm not in agony (my vertical labret is bothering me more than my triangle).

I got home, got out a mirror and very, very carefully looked at my new pretty. I immediately got on the phone and called Chuck. He answered the phone and I told him how beautiful it was. I didn't say hot, I didn't say cool, I didn't say bad ass because it is truly beautiful. It's been four days and it feels pretty good. Would I do it again? Right now I say no, but I re-pierce stuff all the time.

Like I said before, do not go to a piercer who is doing that particular one for the first time unless you completely trust them. People get discount piercings from apprentices and they are obviously going to be doing a lot of new piercings and apprentices have to learn somehow, but a triangle is considerably different from a nose or an eyebrow. Chuck was honest with me about not having ever done that and he told me that he was a bit nervous about doing a new piercing, but I love the piercing and he and I got all the myths about sexual activity and genital piercings straightened out. As of right now, no I am not having sex. I'm going to take care of this one because he did a great job, but damn it hurt!
