I have always wanted a genital piercing, but I was never really sure which one. Clit hoods seemed to be pretty much everywhere, and there were lots of pictures and info, but my hood isn't really that large so I wasn't interested. After much research, I decided on a triangle. It looks like a horizontal clit piercing, but lower down the labia. (If you're not sure what a triangle is exactly, go to Elane Angel's website! she has so much expertise on every piercing....you can even e-mail her a picture of your clit and labia and she can tell you whether or not you are suited for a triangle, vertical clit, horizontal clit, or inner outer labia! she's that good! ) It goes right under the clit stem....hood piercings stimulate the clit by downwards pressure rubbing on it, the triangle is different because it stimulates the clit by pulling on it and rubbing the back of the clit....so just imagine having both! I had a very specific idea of what jewelry I wanted down there: 12 gauge, circular barbell. No reason why really, I had just seen so many pictures and figured out what would look best on me. You have to know what will fit down there so you make the right decision.

Finding a piercer was probably the most time consuming part of the process. The guy who had done my ears (conch, rook, anti-tragus) was the best in the area, but he wasn't very friendly and I really didn't want him down there if you know what I mean. You should never have a genital piercing done with anyone unless you're totally comfortable with them and you know for a fact they have the experience it takes to do delicate piercings that can forever effect your sex life and the stimulation you get from sex! Stan had done my boyfriends dydoes and was apparently very nice. He had also been trained at !!GAUNTLET!!, the genital piercing groundbreakers, so yah, he's pretty much one of the best.

You have to be very careful when picking someone because not everyone is suited for a triangle and you want someone experienced so they don't mess anything up.

After I crawled up in Stan's chair and pulled my skirt up (do wear a skirt, it's SO much easier) it took him about 5 minutes to make sure the placement was right. The jewelry will sit right underneath the clit stem, so you have to be sure you're not going to pierce through it...that would suck. He was really cool and we had great casual conversation about piercings and just life in general. He made me feel really comfortable, and that's saying something considering I was sitting in a room with no panties on and my feet in stirrups with a complete stranger handing my bits and pieces down south! He said I was brave to go for the 12 gauge, most people do about a 16. If you intend to do some heavy play, I think at least a 14 is best. You also don't want to much of a diameter while the piercing is healing, because it can twist the skin and cause the piercing to heal sideways.

Then it came time for the needle. The piercing itself was pretty intense, but it wasn't the worst pain I've felt during a piercing. My sternum piercing was WAY worse. Once the jewelry was in there really wasn't that much pain at all, just a dull throb. I did bleed quite a bit, but that's totally expected with genital piercings considering all the blood that rushes around down there when you are aroused. But then again, if you really want the piercing you're getting, any pain is totally worth it.

During the next few days there was some spotting, and the area was very sore. I had to wear a pad and it was hard to wear pants because of the pressure the seams put on the area when I sat down. Sitting your butt on the very edge of chairs or leaning back and putting your weight on your butt help tremendously. After about four or five days there were no problems.

Everything I've read says triangles heal in about 2-3 months, but I've had mine for about 1 and my boyfriend can already play with it. Just make sure that you keep everything clean and there is no fluid contact with the piercing while it's fresh. I guess in the end it's just a matter of how your body takes it.

If you have the right stuff down south and you're ready for a genital piercing a little more hard core than the clit hood, try a triangle it's totally worth it. Do your research, and take your time picking a great piercer!
