For about 5 years now, I've been thinking about getting a genital piercing. I had never really looked into it, but it was always on the back of my mind.

About 8 months ago, I was researching the genital piercings online, and came across the Triangle. Instantly I knew that is what I wanted. Unfortunately, my piercer Armen, who was the only person I trusted to pierce me, did not have any experience with exotic piercings.
So I waited for him to get experience but no one had wanted him to do the piercing. A few months later, Armen had got a job at La'Rox in Akron, Ohio.
I took my friend, Blake there to get his first piercing; a tongue ring, and I wanted Armen to do it. Unfortunately, he was no longer piercing. He was a tattoo artist. Since he was the only one in the area I trusted, I asked him who he would trust and recommend to do Blake's tongue ring.
His response was instant, and he referred me to Kris. Armen has been a long-term friend, and someone I confide in, have trust in and look to for advice. If he had thought someone else, even at a different shop could do better he would have told me.
So, without a second doubt, I trusted Armen and went to Kris to pierce Blake's tongue. Kris was very professional, and performed an absolutely beautiful tongue piercing. After the barbell was in, I asked Kris if he did exotics. He did, and he had experience doing the Triangle piercing.
A few weeks later, Blake and I returned to La'Rox, but only this time he was there for my moral support. I walked up to the counter and told them I wanted a Triangle done, and I wanted Kris to do it. They called for Kris who came out and sat down and talked to me about it. He told me that he'd have to check me out first to see if my anatomy is suited for the piercing. I told him that I already knew that, and that I had researched the piercing.
After a quick visit to the restroom to make sure I was clean, I went into the piercing booth with Blake and Kris. To be honest, I was nervous getting half naked in front of some guy that'd I'd only met one other time in my life. Blake and Kris are both in local metal bands, so they had a good conversation with each other, until I finally put my hand over Blake's mouth and said that I just wanted to get this done. I was incredibly nervous.
Kris asked me to pull down my jeans. If I wanted to I could leave them on one leg, down around the calf, but it would be easier if I just removed them. Trusting his better judgment, I completely removed my jeans and undies. He told me strait up that he needed me to spread my legs as wide as I could, and some girls were uncomfortable with that. I told him whatever I could do to help him perform a better piercing.
I laid down and put my feet in the stirrups. I spread my legs as wide as possible. He put on latex gloves and first looked at my anatomy. He told me strait up that I was pretty much made for this piercing.
I was very impressed with his professionalism. Kris is probably about 19-20, and most guys that age would be dumbfounded if a clit were shoved in their face! Kris was completely professional, and never touched me more than absolutely necessary. He measured the width of my inner labia skin, and told me to put my jeans back on.
We went back out into the lobby and I watched him measure different rings. He gave me a wide collection of rings to choose from. I chose a green titanium ring. He took the ring and sterilized it as I waited almost impatiently in the lobby. I was terrified and worked up about the piercing. I am a veteran in piercings; before today I had 7 piercings in, but had been pierced 18 times, letting different piercings heal up for different reasons, or getting things repierced.
When everything was sterile, Kris took Blake and I into the booth. He was very open with me about sterilization. He put on latex gloves to touch anything, let me watch him open the needle, open the iodine; open the 'Neosporin' type ointment. He had to go and get Q-tips, and during that, even though it was less than 10 feet away from his booth, he still covered anything sterile with a paper towel to avoid any dust particles that may fall on it.
Only when he was absolutely ready, he asked me to remove my jeans again. I did and sat down on fresh paper over a doctor's bed. I laid back and put my feet in the stirrups spreading my legs as far as possible. Using a q-tip, he cleaned the area where the piercing would be extensively with iodine. He used a different q-tip to clean the general area as well.
He carefully placed the target dots on either side of my inner labia. A few seconds later, he placed the receiving tube and needle. He asked, "Are you ready?"
Ironically enough I'm a HUGE KoRn fan and found a strange relation to one of their songs. I kinda laughed and said, "Don't ask me that! Just do it!"
I was holding Blake's hands as the needle started to go through.
It went through the first side of the inner labia. I drew in a quick breath as it went through. Kris had to pause for a second to make sure his angle or aim was correct. Then, as quickly as he could, he continued under the nerve and through the other side of the inner labia.
I cannot lie; the first part of the piercing was not bad. The second part did hurt, only because of the way they have to pierce it. It is not a fast piercing at all. It took a good 3 seconds to go under the nerve and through the other side of the inner labia. He was being very careful not to mess anything up, and I could tell that he wanted this piercing to be absolutely perfect. At most, I never screamed, only said loudly, "Ow, ow, ow, ow." Blake told me that I never even squeezed his hands.
Once the needle was through completely, I was absolutely calm. Kris put the ring through and I could barely feel it. When he put the ball into the ring, it actually felt kinda good.
All in all, the entire piercing did not hurt as much as my second nostril did. (I have one nostril ring in front through the thin cartilage and the second one in back of that, through the thick cartilage.) When everything was done, Kris told me that I could take as long as I wanted, but I was all done.
I was kind of light headed only because I was so afraid of the piercing and it was finally done. I had stressed myself out over it and it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I took a few seconds and sat up very carefully. I couldn't feel any pain at all as I sat up. Everything I worried about was completely overreacting.
I stood quickly in front of the full-length mirror and looked at the piercing. It looked awesome! Only the needle itself hurt a bit. I could easily lift my outer labia to view it. I put my clothing back on and easily walked out into the lobby.
The aftercare I was given was to clean my piercing twice a day with Provon medicated lotion soap with Chloroxylenol. Honestly, I've cleaned it once since then and the soap stings because it's an anti-bacterial. Besides that, new piercings get tight due to the skin healing and they kinda 'stick' due to the healing process. The first time I cleaned it, it was not happy.
Forewarning, when you wipe dry it tends to bleed a little bit; a couple spots one the paper. That is normal. It stings for a few minutes after you pee, but it goes away quickly. I was not told to use sterile saline solution, but due to experience, I know it feels good on fresh piercings. It's cold, which makes it feel better, and on a Triangle, it not only cools down your piercing, but it also cleans it.
All in all, if I would ever have to get my Triangle repierced, I would not have a second thought on it. It's really not that bad, but I do not recommend it for your first piercing. You have to be slightly careful on how you sit down, and if you drive a Jeep Wrangler, as I do, you have to be kind of careful on how you get in it. But even if the piercing rubs the wrong way it is merely uncomfortable for a few seconds.
You will be able to tell your piercing is there no matter what; it's a very sensitive part of your body. But there has been nothing since the initial piercing that has been completely uncomfortable. A bit of irritation is expected, a bit of bleeding as well. For what I expected and dreaded, this is nothing compared to what I thought it would be.
For a first time piercee, I do not recommend this piercing. But for someone who is experienced in piercing, and I'm sure once it heals I'll completely enjoy it and is totally worth the small amount of pain I experienced.
The triangle is worth it.....totally.....and I highly recommend it!
