I have always found the esthetics and function of genital piercings to be very interesting and positive thing. This led me to start my genital piercing adventures with a horizontal hood (at one time stretched up to 6g, now only at ten) and a set of two inner labia piercings (pierced at 8g and stretched to 6) but there still seemed to be something missing.

Intrigued by various resources citing this piercing, I did as much research as I could regarding placement, sensation and of course, enhancement, and finally arrived at the conclusion that this was something that I needed to have.

In discussion with Rick, after figuring out at length whether I was anatomically suitable, we decided a 10g ring would be proper and comfortable for my needs.

Then we were ready for the procedure. (Well, after weeks of deliberation and planning, I was ready....)

A few short words about Rick and Adorned if anyone is interested:

Rick is the longest esablished professional Body Piercer in the province of Alberta. He is Absolutely the only person I would trust anywhere near so delicate an area of my anatomy with a big needle. He has just recently relocated to a shop that is entirely his own, bringing with him his entire collection of tribal artifacts from around the world, creating one of the most comfortable and magical environments that I have ever been in. And all of the important stuff is taken care of as well. Everything used during the procedure is new and disposable, the autoclave is tested monthly to ensure that everything is sterile, and all of the material certification sheets are there for the metals and such in case you care to peruse. This makes for a safe and wonderful experience in the hands of someone who genuinely cares about the well-being of his clients.

On to the actual procedure. I suppose you can assume that I disrobed and that is where we are at right now. And then all of the boring parts like the cleaning, prepping and marking.

First the skin is degreased with a prepackaged pad of benzalkonium chloride, then wiped twice with providone iodine to ensure that no nasty bacteria is present, and finally some little dots are made with gentian violet and a sterilized toothpick to make sure that nothing of importance would be damaged as well as to ensure optimal sensation.

Then comes the piercing portion. Rick works primarily freehand, which most clients find more comfortable. So I am instructed to start a series of slow deep breaths of no particular number while Rick gets lined up with the needle and positions the skin, and on my second exhale the needle enters and Rick pauses to make sure that everything is properly aligned and waits for my third exhale for the exit. Then the jewellery is quickly inserted and behold: a brand new piercing!

Yes it hurt, but in the hands of an experienced and confident piercer and when you are properly prepared for what you are undergoing nothing is unbearable.

And then it was done.

It was sore and uncomfortable for a few days, but a combination of hot soaking and appropriate underwear quickly alleviated that, and now a month later it is healing fine and I have even gotten a few opportunities to enjoy it! This has been one of the best piercing experiences that I have had, regardless of the discomfort the eventual joy is definitely worth it. And yes, I was also nervous about this entire experience, but that is a big part of the overall picture, the whole anticipation and expectation of a permanent piece of metal being inserted into my body. And how your body reacts afterwards is also pleasant: happy little endorphins running around making you feel tingly and excited.

A note on the aftercare as well. Rick only recommends all natural aftercare; products that work with your body as opposed to against it. The results of chemical-free aftercare are faster healing times and better smelling cleansers!

In the long term, my goal is to eventually stretch this piercing up to a 2g if my body will allow, and have many more wondrous piercing experiences. (Next we are plannning an additional 8g hood higher and deeper than the original one, to eventually connect via t-bar with the other one.)

(Incidentally, Rick has performed most of my work including my ear scalpelling, 8g nipples, a corset and stomach project and various other mods.}

So if you are looking for a pleasant piercing experience, go and see Rick, he will be happy to pierce you! (He also has a large selection of jewellery and carries the recommended aftercare products in the store.)

Notes to people thinking about getting a piercing-please do your research, respect your body and be aware of what is important!
