A great way to start |

Triangle PiercingI learned about the triangle piercing from looking around on the BME site. I looked at the various genital piercings and read several experiences before deciding the triangle was the way to go. Besides having my ears pierced as a baby, my triangle was my first piercing.
My city only has three piercing studios. Two of these studios I have only recently learned about. I didn't really have to go looking for a studio as everyone goes to Black Hole Body Piercing. Black Hole has been around for about ten years now, and I have only heard positive things about them. I had also gone in myself and chatted with the girls to get a feel for the place about a month before I decided to go ahead and get a triangle. I liked Angie the most out of the girls working there that day because she wasn't condescending about me not knowing much about piercings. Angie is also the most experienced piercer and the owner of Black Hole Body Piercing.
When I was ready or actually couldn't wait any longer to get my piercing done, I called and made an appointment with Angie, and then had to wait several days. I was late to my appointment as usual so Angie was on her way out to her other store, but I stopped her in time.
Angie brought me inside and I let her know that I had just started my period that morning, which turns out not to be a problem. We went over to the jewelry case and discussed what I should get. I had already decided on a circular barbell, so we just needed to get the gauge. We went with a 5/8" 12G for the time being. After picking out the ring, Angie let me use the bathroom to clean myself up and tuck my tampon's string out of the way while she got the room ready.
In the room: Angie had me remove my pants and underwear while continuing to ready herself for the piercing. She didn't hand me a paper towel, leave the room, or make me wait forever like at the doctors. I hopped up on the table, reclined, and tried to relax. Angie doesn't like working with tables with stirrups, so she just had me put the bottoms of my feet together at the end of the table. Angie then checked out my anatomy to see if I was suited to have a triangle, and we were ready to go.
The piercing: Angie located my nerves and marked where she would pierce. I have a very large inner labia which gave her plenty to hold on to so she decided not to use a clamp. I took a deep breath and waited for it to happen. Whoa, it hurt! I jumped about a foot when the needle was about half way through and had to concentrate on staying still for her to finish. Once the needle was through, there was no more pain, but I was anxious of replacing the needle with the ring. It didn't hurt a bit. Angie handed me a mirror, and it looked great! We discussed caring for the piercing while I put my pants back on, and I was ready to go. I didn't walk funny, and sitting in the car wasn't at all uncomfortable.
After care: My shower/bathtub has been out of commission for over a month so all my cleaning and soaking gets done on the toilet. The first thing I do is wash my hands and under my fingernails with Antibacterial soap so I don't infect myself. I clean the piercing and get all the crusties off with saline solution used for cleaning contact lenses. The stuff is pretty cool because you can get a nice stream with pressure. Before Angie sent me on my way, she gave me two little bags of sea salts and told me where I could get more. I soak in the sea salts about twice a week. I mix up about a cup of hot water and ¼ teaspoon of salts in a small bowl and hold it against my piercing.
About a week after the piercing when the swelling went down, I noticed there was a very minor problem. We had caught a bit of the skin of my inner labia on the exiting side of the piercing. I went down and showed Angie and made another appointment to get it fixed. She was more upset than I was that it didn't turn out perfect. It really was not a big deal. I go in next Tuesday to get my perfect triangle.
I love my triangle, and really have to control myself in order to not show it off to everyone. I was very satisfied with my experience and my piercer. I felt very comfortable and well informed the entire time. If you are thinking of having it done, go for it.
