My Outer Labia Piercing DiaryThe Day Of...
For as long as I can remember I have wanted my outer labia pierced. I cannot think of any piercing that is more beautiful and sexy. The thought of the level of pain involved has been a successful deterrent for 4 years. I am also heavy set. I automatically assumed that b/c of my thick thighs the piercing would never work. Furthermore, I'd have to go without sex for a while.
On Oct. 7, 1999, the pros outweighed the cons and I decided to have my outer labia pierced. April (my piercer) explained to me that my placement would definitely be non-traditional and experimental in nature due to my "thick" anatomy. Knowing this, I decided to only do one side and see how it goes before doing the other. We special ordered a 1" 12ga curved barbell for the piercing. Placement of the piercing was decided to be just below the level of my clit and on a slight angle to facilitate comfortable placement when standing/sitting.
When the day finally arrived, I was so nervous and anxious I thought I mightn't be able tofollow through with my appointment. I wasn't too fearful of the pain, but worried that I would have yet another failed body piercing ( I lost 6 piercings before figuring out that I have an allergy to SSS). Okay...I was afraid it would hurt. I KNEW it would hurt...BAD. We're talking about 1 inch of my most sensitive flesh being punctured by a fairly large needle!
April and I spent about half and hour discussing and marking placement. I was so nervous I gave as much input as possible, but mostly trusted her judgment. When she put the forceps on I was already whimpering...mostly in anticipation of what was to come. Then we did the general deep breaths and on 3 we'll go. For the first time in all of my 8 piercing experiences I really did feel focused and ready for this piercing. As the needle went through I felt the fire. A RAGING fire and intense pain...from my knee to my belly button....and it felt like it kept going...and going...I wondered if she had used a 3 ft long needle! I was gritting my teeth and trying to breath it off and shaking my head side to side to shake the pain. Then I found out that she hadn't even inserted the jewelry yet! She gave me a quick break (5 seconds) and inserted the
jewelry, which seemed even more painful than the piercing; although, I suppose my level of tolerance for pain had been completely spent at that time.
I continued to lay on the table for about 10 minutes after the piercing to regain my bearings and realized that the pain quickly subsided and turned into numbness. I was able to get up and get dressed without trouble and even went shopping afterwards.
The Day After...
I never bled from the piercing. I am swollen very badly...there is no room left on the barbell...in fact the beads are sunk into my skin. It feels like someone kicked my in the crotch.
Walking is painful. I think I will take the day off work. Wearing undies makes if feel safe.
Week One...
Well...it is still painful, and swollen after 5 days. I'm at my wits ends with it and am thinking it may have been a bad idea. I have been taking 600mg of motrin for pain and swelling, with no luck. It itches like the dickens! I can't walk straight. If it's not better tomorrow I will remove it. *sad*
Week Two...
I did a good sea salt soak and got some gunk out of the hole and feel much much better. In fact, the pain is minimal, only a slightly bruised feeling. I can walk normal again! No redness
or swelling. I have a hard time laying on my sides at night, as it causes tension and pulling on the barbell. Wearing underwear overnight helps tremendously. Looks like a keeper!
Week Three...
Well, so far so good...still a bit tender. I noticed that the outer end of the barbell is moving. There is redness and puffiness around the hole...I hear that some movement is to be expected so I will keep it under watch for now. Also couldn't resist having sex this week...of course it was protected sex...and the piercing didn't interfere...or should I say, we didn't interfere with the piercing. I did notice that in some positions (laying and standing) I have lots of extra length on the barbell and the piercing is nearly horizontal, but when I am sitting, bc of the way the skin moves, the extra length of the barbell is used. I hope that I will be able to wear a CBR or CBB in it. Keeping my fingers crossed. So far so good.
Email me if you want an update or have questions about my experience. I will soon have pics and submit them to BME.
