The first time I heard about the Christina piercing is when I went with my two friends to get my vertical hood piercing. One of my other friends was getting her Christina piercing. I stood there, and watched in shock as what I thought was going to be one of the most painful piercings. I swore never to get something like that done. Unfortunately (or I guess, fortunately) once I started piercing I couldn't stop. It was a little under a year later that I went back to Jason (the original-and best!- piercer) to get my Christina piercing. There were some stupid mistakes that I made, that only didn't come back to bite in the butt because of sheer luck. I had researched the piercing, but I had not researched it enough- I looked at some pictures, asked my friend about hers- but I didn't go too into depth. Also I am lucky enough to be located near a WONDERFUL piercer that is very very professional and experienced. If I had gone to a different piercer, I might be writing about a rejected Christina piercing right now. The day of the piercing, I went to the studio, but Jason wasn't in, it was one of the other piercers. I feel horrible because I can't remember her name, but she was wonderful and put me right at ease. The studio itself is wonderful and very clean. I laid down, put my feet in the stirrups, and started mentally preparing myself for the actual piercing. She measured me, had me check the markings, and began the initial process. I was nervous, but at this point I had quite a few other piercings, so I wasn't overly afraid. I am not going to lie and say it wasn't painful, but it wasn't the most painful piercing I had ever gotten. I have my nipples pierced, my vertical hood, my rook in my ear and a few other cartilage piercings. My rook was done with a 12 gauge to start and was extremely painful. My Christina wasn't half as painful, and neither were my nipples. I was pierced with a 14 gauge, as (most) of them have been done with. My friends who had come with me for support were awed that I had someone come near my nether regions with a giant needle, but it wasn't that bad. My other friend went and got her vertical labret, and it also came out beautiful. Funny thing is that I was more afraid of seeing her lip pierced, than me getting my Christina. Anyway, the healing was fairly quick as well. There was no "pain" afterwards but more of a bruised feeling, and even that only lasted a few days. I cleaned it using a sea salt soak that I used every day.

My stupidity comes in at this part. Up until my Christina piercing, all my piercings were fairly fast healing. While I did clean my Christina every day, I didn't give it as much attention as I should have. It wasn't until I did my research AFTER my piercing did I really make sure that I cleaned it every day if not twice a day. Also, what started to happen which I found very weird was that the skin over the piercing was raised a little, and there was a little bump by the bottom ball. It wasn't red (well, maybe a little tiny bit) and it wasn't irritated, it was just raised. So, in a panic, I went back to Jason to have him check it out. The bar was also slightly too long, so he shortened it for me, and switched one of the balls (the lower one was larger than the top, so he changed it so they were the same size). He said it looked fine, which I was very grateful. Under both occasions where Jason had to look at my lower piercings I have made a fool of myself with no pants on, so I am always very grateful for his professionalism.
So I went home, with my new bar, and everything was fine for a few hours. Since the bar was shorter, whenever I would stoop to pick something up, or move the wrong way, it would pinch. From other ladies' experiences, I recognized that this was not good. So after a day or so more, I changed back to the longer bar. Pulling it out was definitely a weird sensation, but no pus or anything came out. Since then it still gets crusty from time to time, but it's on the upswing. It also gets moody from time to time, by getting more crust some days than others, but generally its doing well. I really really hope it doesn't reject, because it is one of my most beautiful piercings, I also HIGHLY recommend Jason Morningstar. He is an absolutely FANTASTIC piercer, and I would not go anywhere else but his studio.
