In this past summer (2005) I was looking at piercings on BME because I decided I wanted another piercing to go with my vertical hood piercing and I came accross the christina piercing. It looked so nice!  I looked at tons of pictures of it and read all the experiences about it and decided I had to have one.  I knew there was a pretty high chance of rejection but I already had a healed up surface piercing so i figured i could at least try heal this one up.  So off I go to the piercing studio to get a beautiful new piercing.

The piercing itself wasn't too bad.  My piercer gave me the option of using clamps or not using clamps (not using clamps would be a slower probably more painful process) but i told him to use whatever method he wanted to since it was him that was sticking the needle into me so he opted for not using clamps.  He also said since it was technically a surface piercing he could either do it with a surface bar or a curved barbell but we decided to go with the curved barbell since he said would be more comfortable for me with moving around and what not.  So he cleaned me all up, marked up the area, lined up the needle and pierced.  It hurt a fair bit on entry and exit but while it was underneath the skin you couldn't even feel it.  So it wasn't too bad at all especially when compared to my vertical hood piercing (the pain was less intense although it did take longer). It would have hurt less with the clamps because it would have been much faster but then you also have the uncomfortable feeling of the tight clamps so I guess either way is about the same. Then he put in the barbell and let me take a look.  It was so nice! It looked really good with my vertical hood piercing too.  We went over the aftercare of the piercing and he explained that there is a possibility of rejection etc. which I told him I already knew and off I went.  Putting my pants back on or walking wasn't a problem either. Once it was in you couldn't even notice it was there.

The first while wasn't bad. The area was a tiny bit bruised and maybe a bit swollen for the first day or 2 but it went away quickly and wasn't painful or anything.  I used mostly sea salt soaks to clean it and they seemed to work really well.  I thought it was starting to heal up but then it got to a point where it just stayed and stoped healing up.  The top hole was a bit red and it bled a little bit once in a while if i was working out or it got hit but I continued on with the sea salt soaks hoping it would get better.  Unfortunately it didn't.  It didn't hurt and wasn't uncomfortable or anything but it just wasn't healing up completely.

The next time i went to my piercer to get another hood piercing he took a look at it and said it looked a little bit irritated and looked like there was a little bit of rejection happening and I'll probably have to end up taking it out sometime (he said sooner than later would be better) so we decided just to take it out since it wasn't going to heal up anyway.  I kind of figured he would want to take it out but was still hoping he'd say it looked okay.  I had the christina piercing for about 5 months so i was a bit sad to take it out but it's better to take it out at the first signs of rejection rather than waiting and having more scarring.  So out it came.  Now that it's out and just the 2 holes are there I noticed it did migrate a little bit to the left side so I guess it's good it came out when it did.

I was told to use vitamin E on the spot where the piercing was and massage it in and the holes will close up and hopefully some of the scar tissue will go away and it will be barely noticeable anymore. As it is at the moment since it's been out for 3 days it's not even that visible and there doesn't seem to be too much scar tissue so it should heal up really well.  I guess on the bright side it'll be much easier to shave or wax now (that's the only downside of the christina i'd say)

So that's the story of the rise and fall of my awesome christina piercing.

Don't let this story make you second guess getting one because if it does heal up this is one of the most beautiful genital piercings a girl can get!

Good luck with your piercings everyone!
