Artist Tom
I have been working at ******** for about two months as an apprentice. Tom (a 500 pound guy with fingers the size of hot dogs) is the piercer there who is supposed to be training me. I have seen Tom pierce several times and he always seems to do everything too shallow. It's around 7 PM when I causally mention that I had my Christina done once myself but it rejected and I would love to have it again. Tom offers to pierce it for free. At first I wasn't so sure but then I figured, "what the hell, what is the worse that can happen?" The worst happened.

It started out just fine. I helped him retrieve all of the necessary sheets, alcohol pads, needles, lube, iodine, q-tips, a marking stick, ink, jewelry and clamps. He wasn't familiar with what exactly a Christina was which should have been my first sign to let someone else do it. I informed him that it was a surface-to-surface piercing placed at the top of the vagina and explained it was sort of like a belly button ring for your crotch. After I dropped my pants, I showed him where I wanted each mark with my finger. He cleaned up the area and marked it with the ink. I checked the dots and, of course, it was going to be too shallow so I cleaned off the marks and showed him again where I wanted it. My boss/tattoo artist, Mikey, came in to watch the procedure follow through. Tom then had my lay down and put the clamps on my crotch. I took the three deep breathes he asked me to take and then faster than I could imagine, the needle was through. The actual piercing was no more painful than a honey bee sting. At this point in time I thought the worst part was over and the piercing would be a success. He then, for reasons I still can't figure out, moved the needle in a vertical position sending a really sharp pain through my crotch. I will admit that my left jumped somewhat but an experienced piercer should be able to deal with that. He lost track of the jewelry. For those of you who don't know what this means, losing track of the jewelry is where the needle and jewelry lose connections from each other. Connection of the jewelry and needle is necessary for the jewelery to go through. Once he told me he lost track, I starting sweating pretty bad and the only thing that could escape my lips were something along the lines of, "Are you fucking serious?"

I then heard some of the most frightening words coming from someone sticking and holding with a needle in my body, "Let me try a little something here." That is when the pain came. Not just any pain that you would normally experience in a tattoo and body piercing studio from getting a tattoo on your ribs or your nipples pierced, no, it was the most excruciating pain I've ever felt before in my life. He was trying to push the blunt end of the needle back up trough my skin. It was not just a quick try either. He went slow and kept trying for what seemed like ten minutes. I would let out a scream about every twenty seconds. Sweat was pouring out of my back and off of my head. Finally I told him to fuck it and to just stop. Tom seemed relatively disappointed and decided to try something else. The decided to try to stick the jewelry through without the guidance of the needle. When he put the first part of the 16 gauge curved barbell in I did not feel a thing. Then he began "searching" for the top hole. The pain was not quite are bad as the blunt needle but had to have ranked up in one of the worst pains I've ever felt. I sat up to see he was not even getting close to where the top bloody little hole was. I put on gloves and offered to do it myself since I was aware of my own pain and limits. I attempted to get the jewelry for about 30 seconds before throwing the barbell across the piercing room and telling it to "fuck right on off."

Tom cleaned the area which was supposed to be adorned with a new Christina piercing off with some alcohol pads and damped off all the excess blood. I looked at the spot which had two small scabs of blood and a tiny bruise forming on the bottom hole. I am pretty sure Tom could tell how utterly disappointed I was and offered to pierce it again once it healed up. I think I'll just go somewhere else and pay for it.
