I went with a friend to get her nipple pierced and asked Dave, the piercer there, a question about my junx. He answered, and then added "But you are suited for a fourchette." Hmm. I had never considered a fourchette, because I hear it's not that common and you'll have to take it out when you have a baby anyway. But if I've got the anatomy, I'm all for trying something not too many other people have!
At A Glance Author Rikki Contact Rikki@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Dave Studio Star Rocket Location Old Ellicott City, Maryland I asked Dave where exactly a fourchette was (I'd seen them in the BME Dictionary, but then I've also seen Christinas and Princess Albertinas, and wouldn't it be terrible to give the okay for one and get another!), and he told me. I was surprised to learn that it was more like on the connection of the inner labia rather than actually through your vagina. That bit of information convinced me more to get it, because I figured there would be less pain and it wouldn't necessarily be bumped every time I changed a tampon or had sex.
So I would get it! All right.
I took off my underwear and stuck it on top of my purse. I lay down on the table, hitched up my skirt, and put my feet in the stirrups. He told me to scootch closer to the end of the table so my legs would open wider, but it didn't end up being the "as far as humanly possible" kind of distance that other people have written about in their experiences. Once I was lying there, exposed to any needles that may be flying my way, I started to panic.
"Do you use clamps?"
"Yes."
"I've never had clamps before."
"It's not too bad."
"What gauge are you using?"
"14."
And so on, until he told me to take a deep breath. The clamps weren't too bad, the needle was a reasonable amount of pain (considering it WAS going through my junx), but the barbell really hurt. I thought he had put the barbell in, and I started to ease up, thinking that all that could be left was a little pinching while he screwed on the ball. Then I felt this sudden rush of pain and I let out a little yelp. He asked if I was okay; I told him it only hurt for a second there. Then he said, "It's okay, the worst is over, now the barbell is in." Well. I don't know what I thought was the barbell before.
He finished everything up, and I asked for a hand mirror. He couldn't find one offhand, so I had to wait to see what it looked like. I went downstairs and my friend asked what took so long. I told her what I got done, and she was a little surprised. She knew I had shooed her out of the room so I could ask a question, but neither of us had expected me to get anything done right then.
When we got back to her car, we ooh-ed and ahh-ed over each other's piercings (I found a little mirror in my purse so I could finally see also). It didn't hurt to walk, but I had to be careful when I sat down. The barbell seemed really long, so after using the bathroom I was really careful, because I was scared I'd rip it out from behind or something by accident.
The first day hurt the least. The next two days, it did hurt a little all the time more or less, and when I sat down it hurt unless I shifted around and made sure I was in the right position. When I dropped something at work I dreaded squatting or bending at the waist to get it. I wear "normal" pants at work but pajama pants normally, so bending over seems tight anyway when I'm at work. New metal did not help any. On the fourth day, I was cleaning it before I went to sleep, and the skin seemed really thin. Also, the barbell seemed like it moved around more easily than it had been. I knew genital piercings stretch easily, but could it already be stretching itself? Or maybe it had swelled at first and I didn't notice. :::Shrugs:::
When I woke up the next morning, I went to go to the bathroom and I heard a clink on the floor. Oh no! My fourchette! Yep. It had ripped out. It only hurt a little that day doing the things that had hurt before (going to sit down, bending or squatting, etc.). Since then it has not hurt at all, and the area isn't red or anything. If it is possible to get this done again I might, but maybe I will ask for a different kind of jewelry or a larger gauge (this was 14, and since then I've read in the QOD that 12 or 10 is more often recommended for this kind of piercing).
