This is my personal experience with the fourchette piercing. I feel that this is a good experience to share with everyone because anyone thinking about getting a fourchette piercing or knows someone with this piercing should read this information. Again this is a personal experience that I had and it may not happen to everyone.
At A Glance Author ashley Contact atlantatattoochick@yahoo.com When A week ago Studio factor five Location charleston south carolina I have had my fourchette pierced once before a few years ago. I was seventeen when it was done the first time. It always was nice having close friends who are body piercers! The first time my fourchette was pierced it was done with a 16 gauge captive bead ring. The piercing healed very well, but about a month later I took it out, I guess I just got tired of it.
I had been contemplating about getting this piercing done again for some time. It just seemed like this was the perfect time to get it done, it was a beautiful day in Charleston South Carolina not too hot and not too cold. My boyfriend and I had the time to discuss the option of the piercing a few times and I was nervous, but felt that it would be the perfect time to get a new piercing.
About three months ago I was in Charleston and decided that it was time to have the piercing done again. By this time I was nineteen years old and could go any where and get pierced. I tried one shop and the piercer said that he was not comfortable doing this piercing for me because he had never done one before. So feeling discouraged I thought that I would try one more shop before going home. To my relief the piercer said that he would do the piercing for me.
The time was shorting to getting the piercing. My piercer and i picked out the jewelry a 10 gauge steel barbell. I waited outside nervously as he autoclaved my new jewelry. Then a few minutes later he came out and we talked for a few minutes about piercings and tattoos, I have quite a few of both! By the way tattoos are not yet legal in South Carolina, damn bible belt! Anyway, I was starting to get nervous as my piercer said it was time to start.
My piercer, my boyfriend and I walked into the piercing room to start the process. The piercer talked about the piercing as I got undressed. Then it was time to clean and mark the area to be pierced. As I was laying there undressed and very nervous, my boyfriend was by my side holding my hand, he was also very nervous. Then the clamps went on and it was time for the count down, one, two, and then the piercing. I felt a sharp pain as the 10 gauge piece of steel went through my flesh. Then the jewelry, and my new piercing was complete. I was shocked that there was only a small amount of blood. After everything was finished we talked about proper cleaning and then more about tattoos. My piercer told me that it was his first fourchette. I wish I would have known this before hand, but I don't think that it would have made me change my mind.
The healing process was not very eventful. I did the sea salt soaks after showering, other than that I just left the piercing alone to heal. Your urine is actually one of the best things to help clean the fresh piercing. So other than using the bathroom a lot and the sea salt after showering and bowel movements, I just left the piercing alone to heal, I found that your body will heal it's self quite well. The only bad thing about the piercing while it is healing sitting in some positions can be sort of tricky!
After my piercing was at least sort of healed, I decided to try and have sex, very carefully! I waited only about two weeks which was against my piercers advice, you really should wait about five to six weeks. It did hurt a little and I should have waited, but it was not that bad just a little sore. The jewelry moved around more than I would have liked, but the piercing proved to be quite nice for both of us.
After about two months the piercing had fully healed. I had discovered while showering one day that one of the balls on the barbell was missing in action! I had thought that one of the balls had come unscrewed and fallen off, to my surprise the ball had grown into the skin! After some tricky positioning over a mirror I found a good position to view the area. I was scared that I would have to go to the doctor to have the jewelry removed which would be very embarrassing! Thankfully, I was able to very carefully push the ball out of the skin. It really did not hurt, but it gave me a nice scare!
A short time after the ball went missing I switched to larger balls for the ring and found that the same thing happened again. So I thought about stretching the piercing to a larger gauge. Late one night while at home I was looking through my jewelry collection and found that I only had a 4 gauge barbell and a 0 gauge captive bead ring. So the best option was to try the 4 gauge ring. I was reluctant to try for such a large stretch but figured it was worth a try. So with a little lube the jewelry slid in with only a minor pinch. Wow! From a 10 gauge to a 4 gauge without a taper pin or anything else!
The next day I went down to my local piercing shop Body Rites in Columbia SC and had them look at the piercing to make sure it looked alright, and it did. I have purchased a 4 gauge high polished Titanium 9/16 barbell for the piercing. I have a steel barbell in there now which is some what heavy and pulls a bit. Other than the slight puling, the piercing is doing great. My boyfriend loves the new gauge!
I am very happy with the piercing, and feel that every girl should at least try it out. It has proved to be a very functional and rewarding piercing for both partners! If you are prepared to try the fourchette then look to stretching it in the future. I feel that this is a wonderful piercing and hope people can learn from my experience and enjoy there fourchette!
