As I was browsing the BME website one day, I stumbled upon a picture of the Christina piercing and decided that I wanted a piercing very much like that, but just a bit higher up, right below the hairline. For those of you who don't know, a Christina is a surface piercing that's kind of on the skin above the hood of the clitoris. Or if you want to be an ass about it, above where the "slit" is.

Anyway, I sat around for a couple of months debating on whether or not I should go through with the piercing. At the time I was still trying to heal an industrial. I don't like healing more than one piercing or tattoo at a time. I wait until one is healed or well into the healing process before getting something else done, this way I can pay more attention to the new piercing and not neglect another one that needs alot of after care.

So, after a few months had passed I did something really stupid. I was down the shore with my friends getting trashed the whole weekend. I ended up getting Christina at the boardwalk down the shore. I went with my girlfriend and two of my guys friends. My girlfriend was getting her lip pierced and she went first. I came in with her and held her and while she got it done. I also got a feel for the piercer and looked through some of the pictures of piercings he'd done. I'm pretty gullable, so I told the voice in the back of my head to shut up and I let this cute guy convince me that the piercing was a really good idea. Anyone who is easily persuaded should not even step foot into a piercing or tattooing parlor unless it is a reputable place. If it's not, chances are that the bastards there will try to tell you that this or that would look good on you and you'll leave with a random tattoo or piercing that you never even though about before.

Anyway, I went through with it. I know, it was a really dumb idea. When I got back home at the end of the weekend I went to BlackWork tattooing and piercing parlor in little falls where I usually get my stuff done. I had my piercer look at it and I got a huge lecture on my idiocy, but luckily he said the piercer had done a good job, except for the gross bruise.

Alright so back to when I actually got the piercing done. The piercer was really hot so I had no trouble pulling my pants down so he could do the piercing. He took sterile instruments out of autoclave packs and got everything ready. I had to lay back while he marked me. It took a little bit to get it straight. Then after a few minutes we were ready. I love the feeling of getting a piercing or a tattoo, so I was not very nervous about getting it done. Needles don't bother me, I'm a clinical assistant so I have new employees at my job practicing taking my blood left and right.

When the piercer was ready I laid back and closed my eyes. My friend Brad was holding my hand but looking away the entire time. I watched as the Piercer clamped me up and then closed my eyes as he slid the needle and then the jewelry in. Shortly after a left a bruise started to develope where the clamps were and it took over a week to fade away. The bruise was pretty gross looking and other piercers who have seen it all agreed that I didn't need to be clamped that tight. Now that the bruise is gone it is looking much better. The holes are both red and as with any new piercing, they've kind of been oozing a bit. I wash it with PROVON antibacterial soap. I only use Bactin or Peroxide if I feel it's getting infected.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience. I don't recomend getting any mod done down the shore because alot of those people don't have enough experience, but luckily I ended up at a decent place. It wasn't until after I got my surface piercing done that I realized the serious risk of rejection and/or migration. I also found out the Surface Bars are pretty much the only acceptable jewelry used for surface piercing. The piercer I went to had taken a straight barbell and shaped it with a pair of pliars to a 45degree angle on both sides. I hope that this will work out with my piercing. It looks alright so far. Since I got my piercing done I've been taking care of my piercing and have been visiting my piercer regularly. He wanted to make sure it looked alright until it started to really heal. I have been trying not to wear anything too tight that might irritate it. Unfortunatly, I can't go swimming for a while. :(
