I've been lurking around BME for some time now, and am always amazed by how beautiful the female genital piercings look. I already have a 14 gauge Christina (CB slave) and a 10 gauge horizontal hood (CBR) but was still interested in getting another piercing to complete and balance them out. I began looking for information on something a little more unique – the Fourchette. For those who are not familiar with this piercing, the Fourchette is a rear labial piercing. Either a CB or CBR is inserted through a pinchable lip of skin, where the inner labia meet at the back. My research led me to two main sites: a piercing/tattoo shop called Infinite Body in the States, and of course BME. BME's piercing section only has one Fourchette experience – it was a positive one, but still, I really wanted to know more. I approached my body piercer, Jay at Canadian Red Dragon, about it. He let me know that he had never had the opportunity to do a Fourchette as part of his apprenticeship, but was quite interested in trying it - providing I was willing. He set to work on his own sources, but wasn't able to come up with much more than I had found, so we left it at that for the moment.

Seeing as he had up-gauged my hood and put the slave barbell into my Christina for me – he had a definite idea of how the 'area' looked. He had never seen a Fourchette done before either, but was curious about it and thought it would really compliment my existing piercings. I really started to fall in love with the idea of having this somewhat unique piercing, as well as being able to give the experience to Jay as a sort of 'thank you' for all the great work he's done for me over the past two years. Having pierced me four times (nipple, tongue web, Christina, and hood) and having fixed a not-so-great belly piercing done by someone else, I am quite comfortable with Jay... I mean he's already seen everything there is to see a few times anyway, right?
I called the shop to give Jay a 'heads-up' that this was going to be the day I was coming in. His apprentice quickly let me know that today in fact was NOT going to be the day, and informed me that Jay was away on vacation. This has got to be the worst part about getting any body art done, be it tattoos or piercings. I get so psyched to have certain work done on a certain day and something inevitably comes up to prevent it from happening... I am not exactly the world's most patient girl. In any case, we made arrangements for me to come in the following week to have my piercing done. For the week leading up to the day of the actual event, I decided it was in my new piercing's best interest not to, ummmm... shall we say 'traumatize' the area. I don't know how much difference not abusing the tissue made, but I felt better knowing I was giving the Fourchette every chance to heal as effectively as possible.
The day finally came and I, of course, wound up being stuck at work much later than usual. I got to the shop half and hour before they closed and surprisingly, was not anxious at all. This in itself was weird because although I am outwardly calm, there's usually a million thoughts and questions running through my head. Jay and I spent a little while catching up and then debating the pros and cons of curved barbells versus captive bead rings. I must admit that his demonstrations were, well... 'convincing' to say the least! The whole point of the Fourchette piercing, besides the obvious aesthetics, is to bring pleasure to both the piercee and her partner. The jewelry has to be free to roll in and out, unrestricted during sex to prevent unpleasant tugging or tearing. Since I'm all about the pleasure part, Jay convinced me that a 14 gauge ½" curved barbell would be my best choice.
As Jay did his set up, I took off my thong and got ready to hike up my skirt. This is the strangest thing – everyone always likens the experience to being at the gynecologist's – but I don't find it's like that at all... My doctor has never made me laugh my ass off like Jay can. He has the most amazing sense of humour and is so easy to be around that you really don't think too much of the fact that you're laying there half naked about to have a sizable needle stuck through a very delicate part of your anatomy! Jay had to wipe-down the area first, which only succeeded in sending me into a fit of giggles... It's really hard to dry an area that is designed to respond to touch. He then went through the usual cleaning procedure, marked the entry and exit points, and prepared me for the dreaded clamps. I usually find the clamps to be the worst part, as the actual piercing generally doesn't hurt for more than a couple of seconds. He then sprayed on a little topical freezing and hauled up on the clamps, stretching the lip of skin out in a way that was necessary but incredibly uncomfortable. Jay started me working on my deep breathing and pierced as I inhaled. He had the needle through by the time I exhaled, and I found that the sensation was no more intense than having my Christina done. (I actually screamed when he pierced my hood – that pain was SHARP!) The worst part was definitely the tugging and biting of the clamps - I mean I didn't even feel the jewelry go through. Jay cleaned me up and was surprised to see that I had actually thought to bring the one sensible pair of underwear I own (...even though they're lace – C'mon, they still have to look nice!) so I could wear a pad just in case there was bleeding.
It is now over a week after the fact, and my Fourchette looks fully healed and hardly causes me any discomfort at all. My piercing apprentice friend had a look at it after two days and said that aside from some minor swelling it looked really amazing. (Jay has really good needle speed.) I found that there was a fair amount of bleeding on the day that I had it pierced, but that by the second day it was fine. Sitting was a little dicey for about three days, and by the fourth day I was able to wear pants again. I've been using my usual sea salt solution on it twice a day, and basically leaving it alone. (Every time you pee it gets cleaned anyhow.) Now at the tenth day, I'm just really looking forward to 'road-testing' my new Fourchette - I am positive that it will be a very happy-making experience...
