Double Delight (self-pierced inner labia)

My first experience with self-piercing was at age 14 using self-piercing earrings. Just a squeeze a day....such pain! As I matured, my technique did as well. I added nine more to each ear, then used a kit to pierce my navel. All this left me wanting more--call it my mid-life crisis, or maybe my way to fight back against needing bifocals! I did a lot of looking on BME and thought the inner labia piercings were beautiful. They would heal quickly too. It would be my own little secret. I ordered the supplies online, and then waited until a time when I knew I would be able to rest my bits for a week or so. I made sure I would not be flying anytime soon. I was worried about all my jewelry setting off the metal detectors at the airport. A body search would be embarrassing! I planned on doing both lips at once.

One Friday night, after dinner and a few glasses of wine, I decided to do the deed, starting with the right lip. I locked myself in my bathroom and after washing my hands I sat on the floor. I placed my equipment on clean paper towels. Alcohol, cotton balls, a Sharpie marker, a box of tissues, slotted forceps, a small 14G barbell (1/2"), a sterile 14G piercing needle and some ice cubes. I situated myself in front of a mirror and a bright halogen desk lamp. I cleaned myself thoroughly with the alcohol. This was not a good idea, as it burned like crazy. I played with the marker, marking both sides just to make sure I had the right placement. I cleaned myself again, let myself dry and then refreshed the markings. I wrapped an ice cube in a tissue and placed it behind the inner part of the lip. While I chilled, and did some deep breathing, I opened the packages containing the needle and the barbell. I unscrewed one of the ends of the barbell and put everything within easy reach.

I then removed the ice cube, dried the area with a fresh tissue and applied the slotted forceps. I clamped just hard enough to pull the lip out away from my body and hold it taught. I then took the needle and started to push it through. My intent was to go quickly, but my brain said otherwise. After several pushes and some discomfort, it finally went through. As I was in an awkward position, I could not hang onto the forceps and chase the needle with the barbell all at the same time. I needed another hand. I thought about removing the forceps, but needed the grip. So, against my better judgment, I held onto the forceps, removed the needle and promptly tried to insert the barbell. Not a good idea. I bled like crazy. I had a heck of a time finding the hole. I dropped the forceps so the tissues moved and things were no longer in a straight line. I was bound and determined to get that barbell in. I took some breaths and waited for the bleeding to slow down, then continued my attempts. After about 10 minutes, I finally got the barbell in. I screwed on the bead end, cleaned myself and smiled.

It looked wonderful. I DID IT! I decided I would wait a while before attempting the left lip. I cleansed the area faithfully twice daily with sterile saline wound wash and followed that with Bactine. I had no more bleeding and no discomfort. Occasionally the lip gets positioned the wrong way and the end of the barbell presses against the opening of my vagina which feels really wonderful. After a week, I had almost forgotten the piercing was there. I decided to do the left lip. And there I was, alone again on a Friday night one week later.

Having planned ahead, I had purchased some Betadine. I did not want to repeat the burning of the alcohol. I assumed the same position on the bathroom floor, and set out the same equipment as I had before. I cleaned myself with the Betadine, and then marked where I would put the needle through. I placed an ice cube against the inside part of the lip and held it there by closing my legs while I opened the sterile packages containing the barbell and the needle. I removed the ice, dried the area and applied the slotted forceps. I gripped them just firm enough to hold the tissue and then pulled the lip away from my body. I took a deep breath, lined up the needle with the mark and quickly pushed it all the way through. Again I found myself needing another hand. Having learned from my past experience, I left the needle in and removed the forceps. I carefully grabbed the needle to avoid stabbing myself with the pointed end. I held the needle with my left hand and using my right hand, placed the end of the barbell on the other end of the needle. I carefully pulled the needle through while chasing it with the barbell. I had to hold the lip taught by pulling outward with the needle to accomplish getting the barbell through the hole. I screwed the ball on the end of the barbell and smiled. This time there was very little blood and no pain whatsoever. I cleaned myself up, applied Bactine and gazed in the mirror at my perfectly adorned bits.

What's next? I'm contemplating more inner labia piercings and perhaps a couple of outer.
