In May 2002, I had my first experience with genital piercing. While I already had my navel and nipples done, I decided to try something new and go for a horizontal hood. Shortly after my hood experience, which was not at all painful, and actually an enlightening experience, I was determined to get a genital project going. After speaking with my piercer, I decided that the next thing I had to have done was my inner labia. In July 2002, I made the appointment to have it done.

The day of the piercing, I was well rested and feeling physically well. I had prepared myself for the worst knowing that after it was done, I would come out of there thinking it was a breeze instead. I filled in the necessary forms and waited as the room was being prepped. As I waited and got more and more nervous, I contemplated just doing one side that day and the other another time.
Jen (my piercer) called me into the piercing room and asked me to remove my jeans and my panties. Knowing that she had seen my vagina before reassured me a little. I wasn't as shy as I was for my hood piercing. While I was on "the table", we discussed jewellery and placement and I mentioned my intention of beginning a genital project. Jen told me that it was a great idea but that we would really have to be precise with placement because I am built VERY small down there and in order for it to look pretty and not cluttered, placement and jewellery selection would be key.
After inspecting my inner labia and determining that I am extremely symmetrical, she asked me whether we were doing one side or both sides on that day. I decided on only one for that day so that I could evaluate the situation for next time! Yeah right! I was really nervous.
After that we decided on the jewellery. We decided that it would be best to begin with a 12gauge, 3/8" captive bead ring. This would leave more than enough room for swelling and cleaning and it would be thick enough not to cause tearing during sexual activity and such, yet not too thick a gauge to cause lots of initial bruising or bleeding. She also told me that inner labia piercings have a tendency to stretch over time so better to start smaller. This all sounded GREAT to me. So we went ahead.
Jen changed her gloves over and over and we talked about stuff as she prepared the equipment and the captive bead ring. She then proceeded to clean and disinfect the area with iodine. Then we started on the placement of the damn thing. It must have taken us a half hour just to find the perfect placement for an inner labia piercing. Jen is fussy and very precise and knowing that I wanted to eventually add more genital piercings, placement was crucial. We decided to place it closer to my clitoris so that we would leave room in case I decided to get more inner labia piercings. Jen marked the spot with gentian violet and asked me if it was okay. Once I gave her the okay, she proceeded by clamping my labia. OUCH! This part really hurt! Clamping was by far the worst part of it! I've been blessed with really sensitive inner labia. They're small and thin but VERY sensitive to touch and CLAMPING!!! Jen asked me to breathe in and out three times and then she would pierce on the third exhale. One... Two... Three... WHAT THE F*CK! It hurt. I have a very high tolerance for pain and I can say that it really hurt. My hood was a cinch compared to this. Although I must say that I do have sensitive inner labia compared to your average woman and it wasn't as bad as I had prepared myself for.
When it was done, Jen cleaned me up even though there wasn't much blood. She grabbed a mirror so that I was able to see and I fell in love with it. She explained my aftercare, I paid, left a nice tip and left.
A year and some later, I got my other side done, plus a fourchette, vertical hood to compliment my horizontal one and I'm going back for another pair of inner labia piercings within the next week (these will be the last because my inner labia are small and will only support two on each side). I have tried different jewellery arrangements from the chastity placement to wearing labret studs. I am planning on more genital piercings after these but I'll have to rent some more space! ;-)
