March 13th ' 03:
I'm rarely spontaneous with my thoughts and decisions, but after a couple of weeks of being sad due to having to remove my Christina piercing a small thought started to creep through my mind.
I've a lot of spare, unused jewellery and also a couple of 14 gauge Introcan piercing needles that I'd had for a while but never gotten around to using, I wanted a new genital adornment, I had the equipment for it, even had experience at self piercing, so all I really needed to do was make sure I knew what I wanted.
Straight away I logged into BME Extreme and started to browse through the Inner Labial piercing gallery; something about these piercings has intrigued me of late; they are beautiful and discrete and yet just what I thought I'd perform to conquer my needs.
I browsed through over 30 pages of pictures, checking on the 'usual' placement and getting an idea in my mind of where I'd locate the piercings on myself.

As soon as I felt mentally prepared I took to finding out all the 'equipment' that I thought I'd need.
Ice was taken from the freezer and placed in a small glass and placed in my room, antiseptic wipes from my medical box as well as a piercing needle, clamps, tissues and jewellery from my desk draw, all of these items were collected together and laid out on a small, circular kitchen tray. I sat on the floor facing a wall and propped a mirror against the wall so I could clearly see both from above and opposite what I was doing to myself.

With all of my previous self piercings I've used a marker pen, but for this piercing I didn't feel it necessary so I promptly wiped the area with an antiseptic wipe and got straight into action; I took my clamps, put them in place and picked up the needle - as soon as I positioned it against the skin and felt the initial pinch as I started to slowly push the needle though I felt as though I was going to back out of the procedure. So I put the needle down, unfastened the clamps and took a moment to think again and make sure I wanted to go through with this piercing.
Before I set to work again I remembered to use the ice, I picked up a single cube and held it against my flesh until I could no longer feel anything and then I set to work, once again I picked up the clamps and fastened them in place with the use of an elastic band. I held the clamps and picked up the needle, setting it's sharp point against me flesh I held the clamps more firmly and after applying slightly more pressure to the needle it started to slice it's way through my skin, after just a couple of moments of pushing it had soon passed through the thin area of flesh and was penetrating nothing more than air. I left the clamps in place and pulled the piercing needle back through the receiving tube so eventually I was left with just a small hollow tube through this new, fresh wound. Promptly I pushed the barbell into the end of the tube and pulled the tube and needle simultaneously back through the skin, eventually pulling the tube free of the piercing and leave the small silver (surgical steel) bar bell in it's place.
Before I removed the clamps I fastened the screw ball onto the end of the barbell, weary that if I didn't thread the ball on and I started to bleed it would be hard work getting the ball in place.
As soon as the jewellery was securely fastened I removed the clamps and the blood immediately started to ooze forming quite a stream, I was shocked at the amount of blood as I wasn't expecting so much, but thankfully I managed to slow the bleeding down by applying pressure and a couple of tissues helped soak up the small stream.

When all the bleeding had stopped the pain also seemed to subside and so after a couple of hours I felt ready to pierce the other side.
Once again I got out all of the equipment, I'd boiled the clamps to clean them as thoroughly as I could without the aid of an autoclave and opened the sterile packaging of a new needle. A fresh glass of ice had been fetched from the kitchen, fresh cotton pads, antiseptic wipes and even a new elastic band for the clamps.

The second piercing went as smoothly as the first. I held the ice and clamps with one hand and used the other to drive the needle through until it was penetrating the ice, removed the needle leaving the receiving tube in place, threaded through the jewellery fasten the ball, removed the clamps and cleaned up the blood.
I sat bad and admired my first matching pair of inner labia piercings, and from that moment on I knew I wanted to get more - all that was stopping me was a lack of new needles and appropriate jewellery.

Although I am only just starting the healing process I am sticking with a very mild form of aftercare, I wash the piercing with antiseptic spray as well as an occasional warm salt soak, which according to the BME Glossary, "The most common mix is a quarter teaspoon of salt per 8oz of water. The solution should taste as salty as your tears."

There are a few pictures of my new piercings on my IAM page for anyone who is adult, has a membership and would like to take a look, but you must be over 18 to gain access to those pictures.

I have said this before and I will continue to say it. I have always maintained the thought and attitude that self piercing isn't safe, but I know I will continue to pierce myself but there are many factors that lead me to doing my own piercings. I only hope that people who read this will take the safe option and decide not to pierce themselves, but to go to a professional, reputable studio and have their piercings performed correctly and safely.
