I had been contemplating getting a piercing for some time. I appear to be a conservative person on the outside but have a little wild streak! I already have a couple of small tattoos but wanted to get a little more daring. My only problem is that I am a health care professional ( a registered nurse) and needed to be able to hide my little pleasures at work. So, after thinking about it and discussing it with my husband (who is also a nurse)and knowing it needed to not be visible to the general public, I decided to get a genital piercing.

I also spoke with a few women I knew who had genital piercings. After all of my studying, I decided I was very partial to an inner labial piercing. I loved the look of a shiny captive bead ring dangling from such a private place. The thought of me having one was very exciting. I very much liked the idea of carrying that little secret around with me!!
Now that I had made the decision as to the type of piercing I wanted the only thing left to do was do it!! I do have to admit I was a little nervous. That's when I came up with a great idea! My husband has years of experience with medical procedures and needles. Why not put that to use?? He has been a paramedic, an ICU nurse, an ER nurse and now worked as a nurse in the surgery department. Who could be more qualified to pierce me?? Plus, who had more to lose if my goodies were somehow damaged during the procedure?? I knew he'd be extra careful with it. He had more at stake here than some dude in our local body piercing shop.
After I talked my man into doing the procedure we spent a lot of time reading about placement and technique. (You can never know too much!!) I decided on having a 16 gauge captive bead ring placed. I knew from my research that the gauge was a little small but quite frankly a 14 gauge needle frightened me a bit too much at that point!! I bought my jewelry and had it sterilized. Then I gathered the rest of the equipment; a 16 gauge IV catheter/needle, sterile gauze, sterile gloves, Betadine, and lidocaine jelly. This was it!!! I took a nice long hot shower and made sure I was extra clean. I had shaved well the night before. I then spread a towel on our bed and took my place upon it. My husband took a seat between my spread legs and got to work. First, he applied a nice amount of lidocaine jelly to numb me up as well as possible. Then, he cleaned me with Betadine. At that moment I was very nervous and actually having second thoughts. He said, "Take a nice deep brea th in and slowly let it out." I did as he said and was expecting to be able to do this once or twice more before he did the deed. But as I exhaled he pierced! Wow! What a rush. The pain lasted only a short time but the endorphins released were amazing! I'd say on a scale of 1-10 that the worst part of it was maybe a 5 but didn't last long at all. He let me recover for a moment and then used the catheter to pull my ring through. I couldn't wait to see it! When I finally got to look, I was VERY satisfied with what I saw. There was virtually no bleeding and the little silver ring looked even better than I had hoped it would. For the first few days I couldn't go into the bathroom without grabbing a mirror to inspect my new prize!!
I didn't have any problems with my piercing. I washed it twice a day with soap and water for the first three weeks and sprayed myself with bactine after I urinated for the first two weeks. That was it. The worst part for me was avoiding sexual contact. I admit I only waited 7 days which probably wasn't long enough but I never got an infection or anything so I got lucky. Overall,I love it and totally get off on having my 'little secret'. Now I'm ready to do some more. I'm pretty sure. I'm going to get a hood piercing next. I was going to go for a horizontal because I love the way they look but decided on a vertical because I've heard it gives more pleasure afterward. So, if all goes as planned you can expect another story from me soon! Until then, Happy piercings!!!
