So it starts on the Thursday, my friend Katie had decided on the spur of the moment to get her labret and her tongue pierced in the morning, and I, as usual, accompanied her to the studio and held her hand when she got it done. I absolutely love watching people getting piercings done; it fascinates me, and always makes me want to get more metal myself. I'd wanted to get my other nipple done (I already had my right done but that's another story) so I decided that as it was payday the next day I would go and get that done to satisfy my urge.

So on Friday, I made my way down to my usual piercing artist's, and had my other nipple done which was a cinch. Katie and I wandered around town for a while longer, me clutching my left breast with the usual throbbing pain a fresh nipple piercing involves. Katie had a few errands to run, so she left and I wandered down to Salsa, a piercing shop on the outside of the town centre, just to look at jewellery. I was talking to the girl behind the till, and for some reason I found myself asking about clit piercings...don't ask why. She said that they had to be booked but the piercing artist was in if I wanted to ask a few questions. I thought it wouldn't hurt to venture upstairs to the piercing room and find out a few things. Salsa is not the normal place I go to but my regular piercer electively does not perform below the waist piercings. The female piercer was very friendly and helpful, and answered all my questions fully and honestly. She said that she could do it for me right now if I wanted, as she had no other bookings that afternoon. I thought about it for a few seconds, told her I would be right back and ran out to grab £30 which was the cost of the piercing, also phoning Katie telling her to come back straight away as I was getting my hood pierced!!

As I got back to the shop my nerves were mounting, the piercer, I think her name was Valerie or something similar, was autoclaving my jewellery when I got upstairs. She produced a form which I read through and signed, and then was told to basically "pop off my jeans and knickers and lie on the bed (fortunately I was wearing a dress so I saved a little dignity). I'd like to mention here that the place was sparkling clean, smelt totally clean and sterile, and had all the right equipment, and individually bagged needles and clamps etc.

She told me to spread my knees so she could have full access, and then cleaned the area with an alcohol wipe. It was a bit weird having a complete stranger cleaning my clit for me, but I didn't really feel uncomfortable. Anyway, I digress. She then slid a receiving tube between my clit and the hood, so she didn't accidentally scrape my clitoris during the procedure. This was a pretty uncomfortable sensation to tell the truth, and I started to worry a bit about how much this would actually hurt. The lady was lovely about it, and said Kate could come in and hold my hand if I wanted. So Kate was sat at the top of the bed and I was lying there, legs akimbo. The woman told me she was going to pierce me in a few seconds, so to count down from three, and then take a few deep breaths as she put the needle through. I did this, but it didn't help that when the needle went through I had very very sharp pain, like she was scraping there with a needle, which she was I guess, but it felt m ore like a blunt sewing needle. I won't lie; I screamed out loud, and then screamed some more. The needle was through, now time for the jewellery. The lady said I would feel some discomfort, which was true, I flinched and almost tried to pull away from her, but the jewellery was through. She screwed on the top ball and it was over. In every sense of the word. All the pain I had felt during the process was completely gone, no pain at all, no bleeding, just an absolutely gorgeous piercing, two little shiny silver balls on either side of pink. I was in love. I thanked the piercer, who had been amazing, and I should have really tipped, and left, deciding to get the bus home and admire my new metal as soon as I got home.

The aftercare is amazingly easy. Savlon wound wash spray is the only thing you need, twice a day. That and warm sea salt baths. I had one as soon as I went home, which was very soothing (you have to remember to rinse this off with clean water afterwards though, salt water left in any piercing will dry it out. So every morning, and every evening, I would have my normal wash with non scented, simple soap, then use Savlon wound wash, work it in to the piercing, wash it out with a soaked cotton wall ball, and dry with a paper towel, or toilet paper. Do not use towels for the first six weeks, these can harbour bacteria, just dry with tissue of some kind, pat dry do not rub. Also don't use soap containing Triclosan, this is an antibacterial agent in soaps such as Dettol, but it can send some bacteria into a state where the body can't deal with them, stick to basic soap that won't affect the PH of your vagina. Try to have a salt bath every other day for the first 2 weeks, they reall y help. I experienced no crusting, and within a week the minimal bruising and swelling had gone down, within two weeks the piercing was pretty much healed although I left it 4 weeks before I let my boyfriend try it out. This, may I add, was fantastic. This is a brilliant piercing; sexy, minimal healing time, easy to look after as long as you follow basic aftercare rules and the benefits are brilliant. I cannot recommend it any more. I hope this story had made people hesitating about whether to do it or not want to just go for it! It's worth the pain, and I love mine. If you have any questions just email me and ask! Thanks for reading!
