I'd recently had my navel pierced, and the entire concept of body modification started to become more and more appealing. I wasn't sure what to get next...so after talking about it with my boyfriend, he suggested getting my clit pierced...for sexual reasons, of course. Well, I had to do some research on this online. People rarely get the actually clitoris pierced, most just get the flap of skin over it done, which sounded fine to me. I asked some friends about it; most were horrified by the idea, telling me that I'd lose feeling or it'd get infected, then regret would ensue. Initially, I thought only pornstars would get something like that done. Whatever.

One of my friends, Megan, had gotten hers done and told me a good place to go was Finders Keepers in Norfolk. She said that they were really friendly and clean. Nevertheless, I continued doing my research online...through BME experiences and pictures, discovering extremes of good and bad. All this time, I was never really put off by the idea.
Well, once I'd gotten the money for it, I got the guts to drive to the piercing shop with my best friend, Josh. (It was about $70 for the piercing itself, but extra for the aftercare kit, plus tips! Always tip your piercer!) The lady at the desk was really kind; I inquired about the piercing and she explained the differences and what to expect. By the way, it's a really good idea to take someone with you, be it your best friend or boyfriend. They can't be in the room with you, but the moral support is nice!
I didn't hesitate at all. I was a little bit nervous, but I sucked it up. This piercing would be a symbol of my sexuality, my courage, my inner rebelliousness, my willingness to take a risk, etc. Jessica took me to the back room & closed the curtains (Josh stayed in the front). She told me she'd talk me through it while actually piercing.
She put a sheet out on the piercing table, put a pair of gloves on & said that I only had to take off my underwear and pull my skirt up. I had to adjust my legs in a certain way so she'd be able to get a good vantage point. The area had to be cleaned a little bit, and then she held up the clamp and explained that she'd use it to line the piercing up just right. (By the way, the thought of having to reveal my downstairs didn't really bother me any; there wasn't anything of which to be afraid, honestly). There was some pressure, but no actual pain. After Jessica lined it up just right, she took the needle and said, "Ok, now just take a long, deep breath."
While I was in the middle of inhaling, I felt a really sharp pinch, then nothing. "Ok, you're done!" It was fast, it was easy, and it only hurt for less than a second. She had to put the barbell in, which was probably a 14 g, but the balls on the end were larger than the ones I had for my navel. I didn't really see any blood either. Looking at it, I was just amazed that I'd seriously gotten it done. Jessica went through the aftercare procedure in detail, with the sea-salt soaking and actual cleaning. The process was like cleaning out any other piercing. I didn't experience any awkward walking or pain while urinating. Getting something to eat afterward is a good idea, for your information.
I had a 5 hour drive back to school after my VCH piercing, but I didn't experience any discomfort. Just minor arousal. I haven't had sex with it yet, nor have I played with it any, but it looks really pretty. Jessica said that doing anything with it in the first few weeks is up to you; just make sure you clean it afterward! Yet cleaning it isn't much of a problem because it really doesn't hurt. If anything, I have minor soreness, but I honestly can't wait until it's healed! Psychologically, I just feel a lot more confident and brave. Everyone I've told is simply amazed. I have yet to tell my boyfriend about it though! (: I think I'll surprise him with it.
I'd suggest this piercing to anyone willing to take a risk. Don't let anyone talk you out of it without having done your research first! Finders Keepers was the ideal piercing studio. Jessica was super-nice, very laid back, but still quite professional. It was clean and not awkward at all! They even switch out your jewelry for free! Just make sure you do your own research. Everyone has a different body, so it may hurt a lot for you, or it may not at all. This is simply about my not-so-terrifying VCH piercing experience!
