My decision to have a VCH piercing was not one I took lightly.

Due to varying medications and past demons, I have a love/hate relationship with my body, and as such often have problems. I'd researched various genital piercings for a long time, and decided upon a VCH because it would fit my anatomy, as well as the possibility of it enhancing my sexuality. Not only that, but I also like to challenge myself in terms of pain and endurance, and all the stories I had read about the VCH were much the same... painful, apparently.

It was no hard choice when it came to a studio - I will always go to Cold Steel in Camden. I've been pierced by Julie a few times now, and I can honestly say I have no complaints. So, booking was no issue. Took half a day off work and waited for 3pm...

Pretty much standard in terms of preparation. I always have a big meal pre-piercing, followed by lucozade and a twix bar to keep my blood sugar up. It has never failed to keep the dizzy spells away! I felt sick before this piercing however, still trying to get the nerve to actually get my head around being de-pantsed in front of someone who wasn't my doctor (or boyfriend, heh).

Signed the usual forms when I got there, studied the aftercare sheet, and went up to the piercing room. Always makes me smile going to the piercing room at Cold Steel - it's up a steep flight of stairs, all you need is ominous music and it's like a suspense scene ;)

Anyway, Julie locked the door, which put my mind at ease - nice to know someone wont randomly barge in. Took my tights off (wore a skirt in February... IT WAS COLD!!) and lay down. Had to tell myself to relax a few times before I could actually let my knees 'flop' apart, but I got there eventually. Julie marked me up, and I was instantly happy with it. The whole time she was telling me what she was doing - which again I find to be very professional and conducive to a happy experience. I should mention that I was pierced with a BCR - this was on advice of my piercer. I'm not sure if this is down to personal preference... but I had no issues with the ring, at least to start with.

The receiving tube which she placed under my hood was not altogether unpleasant... cold, but not a bad thing, :P. So yeah. Down to it. The piercing itself. As always, Julie told me to breath in, and she would pierce on the exhale. And off we go. Now, I only felt something for about half a second, a second at most. But for that tiny moment in time? OUCH. I have quite a high pain threshold, but it did cause me to squeeze my eyes shut and make a weird noise. But that was it. Jewellery went in without a problem. Aftercare sheet, and off I went.

The first 24 hours. Interesting. The train ride home was hilarious because I couldn't get comfortable. Kept shifting in my seat, and people subsequently kept staring. If only they knew... anyway, left it alone for the first day, just kept it clean in the shower.

The first saline soak two days later was a bit sore, and there was a little dried blood but generally a very easy clean. Having said that, squatting over a shot glass of salt water isn't most becoming when you live with your boyfriend...

The first month - I took this very easy. No sex, because I know my own body, and know it can sometimes be weird with piercings. I think the important thing is to listen to your own body. If something doesn't feel right - go to your piercer, don't sit and worry about it.

During the second month I changed the BCR to a bar, which was so much better - I didn't even realise I was uncomfortable before, but the bar was just... better. It took a good 20minutes to change the BCR... I hate those things at the best of times, but fiddling around down there was just infuriating.

So, I'm now in month three and I adore my VCH, which I have named Veronica. I've not road-tested oral sex with her yet - but during 'standard' intercourse, I've only got good things to say. Not explosive orgasms as some report - but certainly hightening in sensation. I'm a happy bunny.

All in all, trouble-free. I usually am a pain with healing times... but this was totally trouble free. I recommend taking stairs two at a time if you get this piercing. It's... nice ;) I also would tell people to use protection during sex for the first 6-8 weeks, because the first two times, there was a tiny little bit of blood, just where it hadn't settled totally. Nothing scary, but it's better to be safe than sorry girlies!
