About a month and a half ago I decided I wanted to get my hood pierced. After looking at pictures of hood piercings on the internet I decided I wanted to get it pierced and seriously considered doing it myself... I'm not one to just drop their pants in front of a stranger. Then I decided that would be incredibly stupid and looked for a piercing place in Kelowna who had a girl piercer. My boyfriend really didn't want me to have a male and quite honestly neither did I. I did some research on the internet to see if there were any side effects and what most people had to say about it, it was quite unnerving to see how many people said it hurt a lot. However there were more side effects to a tongue piercing so I figured I would go through with it. I had just turned 18 and decided that I would ask my friends if they would do it with me, two of them came with me but never went through with it, my other friends thought I was crazy (only a select few people know just because it's not really that socially acceptable where I am). I went into Primal Instinct three days after my birthday and showed my id (you have to be 18) and I asked how much it would be- since I had researched most places costed around $100, she said it will be $40... that's an amazing deal and I knew their good reputation so I wasn't afraid of a bad piercing. So I ran and got some cash and waited the longest 20minutes of my life. Finally she sprayed up the room and me, my two friends and the piercer all went into the room where there was just a curtain. So she was talking and I asked her how many hood piercings she had done and she said tons in the summer, she also clarified that they do not do horizontal hood piercings because they are too dangerous. She was so nice. She told me to strip down, I guess that was the most awkward part but I made sure I was well cleaned (and groomed) but she was really professional and made jokes to make me feel comfortable with her. She told me to straddle the chair and then lie back, she did a quick clean and then asked me if I wanted to know what she was doing... I said yes. She told me she was inserting the receiving tube and it felt so weird, uncomfortable that's for sure because it's right underneath your clit and it's cold and kind of pokey. Then she told me not to kick her and that scared me really bad because apparently some girls do that when a needle goes through... so my one friend held my leg and the other held my hand. I did the whole deep breaths routine and then she pierced it through. I had worked it up to be way worse than it actually was but I did say the f word because, well, its not super pleasant. She was surprised because I didn't even flinch.

I went to starbucks afterwards and every now and then I would twinge because it kind of stung a bit. But other than that I was fine. Sex after three days is not the best. So wait a while if you can. To clean it I just had 2 showers daily and awkwardly soaked it in antibacterial soap. Antibacterial soap does sting the first time you use it on the piercing so be forewarned. And! My piercing was insanely itchy for the first week- I'm not sure if that's normal but mine turned out okay so I guess it's just the healing process. My piercing is fully healed now and didn't give me any trouble at all.

For those of you who have had your tongues pierced it's not as bad! The tongue hurts afterwards and swells but the hood doesn't. I gave her a generous tip and I suggest you do so as well with your piercer- it's your genitals we're talking about! One wrong move and there's no sensation during sex anymore.

So I suggest if you're thinking about it- do it! It's awesome and the best part is that only the people you want to know about it do! Sex is enhanced and not too many people have it, my man thinks it's sexy and I absolutely love it. Mine is hidden when I am standing because of the way I am, don't necessarily expect it to be perfectly centered in the middle because chances are it won't be. And no, it doesn't show a ball shape when you wear a bathing suit! I definitely recommend Primal, they were awesome.
