After I had my piercing done, my first thought was "Oh My God! Did I just do this?!" But I was not disappointed.

I told my sister that I wanted to get a tattoo or something pierced, so we decided that day to get it done. We went to the only place in town that did piercings and she didn't do anything below the belt. A huge disappointment for me. I really wanted something different and crazy. I decided later that day, at a different tattoo parlor, to get a small tattoo instead. I didn't want to walk away empty handed. I was happy but not as happy as I could be after getting all excited and hyped up about a brand new piercing.
I still wanted to have this done but was searching for a place in my area that performed these types of piercings. Being from a small, quiet, fairly conservative, and scarcely populated area I knew I would have to travel to get this accomplished. I called every place in our local yellow pages to no avail. Finally I turned to the computer and found one sole place in my area that did genital.
After researching the piercing and locations further on the Internet for a few months I finally woke up one Saturday morning and decided I wanted to get it done. There was nothing special about the day and it was not a profound realization, I had just waited long enough, having researched the subject to death and knowing what I wanted to have done, I knew it was time and it was now or never. I texted my boyfriend and told him I wanted to head to Sioux Falls and have it done and he was all for it, told me to do what I wanted to do. I called the tattoo and piercing studio that did genital piercings and discussed with him the procedure, and making an appointment for later that day with Skin. Since they have a rule that they close the shop down to do genital piercings I had my appointment set for closing time at 8. I headed out for the one and a half hour drive to get there, getting excited and thinking about my up-coming experience. When I arrived they were in the process of finishing up a couple walk-ins they were tattooing and I had to wait until they were finished. This is when the nerves set in and I was a bit jumpy, the adrenaline was starting to flow and the nerves a bit shaken.
While they finished up it gave me a chance to settle down and breath, realizing what I was about to do. They closed up shop and called for Skin to come up stairs. She was very nice and made the process very pleasant. She got all of her supplies together and we picked out a bead. This took a while since she had so many to choose from, colors, shapes and sizes all played a factor in how it was going to feel. I decided on a ribbed light blue bead that would feel great she claimed (and she was right). We went over to the chair and she finished her prep, she had me climb into the chair and assume the position, just like the yearly check-up with the stir-ups and all. She cleaned the area throughly and affixed the clamp to her liking, after rearranging a few times to get the right depth and lining. That is when I saw her grab the needle. I closed my eyes and waited knowing what was going to happen next. She didn't have me breath or count or anything, I was prepared and she just did it. There was a white-hot pain for about 10 seconds and then it was done. She inserted the ring, which stung but wasn't too bad. I did jump because without the counting or breathing it was a total shock, but I didn't scream. I walked over to a full-length mirror and admired her handy work. I got dressed and gladly paid for my new piercing. I was told to use anti-bacterial soap and keep it clean.
I left the shop at dark, headed for the interstate, and drove away from town knowing that I had done something I was sure no one in my area had every thought of doing. That gave me an edge and helped me distinguish my individuality, not that I needed a piercing to do that, but I know that I have done something daring and different and that makes me fell even better about myself. Boosting your self-esteem, even in your own mind, helps your outer projection of yourself. This also gives me an edge and my own little secret.
