When It just happened
Artist Cynthia
Studio Holier Than Thou

I walked in, and the place was absolutely amazing. They had some of the coolest jewelry I've ever seen. I obviously picked out quite a few more pieces for my VCH after it had healed for some time. Did all of my paperwork and looked around a bit, mostly at the mountains of portfolios lying around the store, paid and got my sea salt and Satin, and she was ready for me in like 5 minutes. They have a bunch of different rooms (probably at least 5 but I didn't count), and the like 3 I saw were all completely spotless.

There wasn't a spec of dust in the place, and it was all really amazingly well done, everything seemed sanitary, in good taste and very...comfortable. The people working seemed to really care about how the parlor looked to outsiders walking in.

I had talked to Cynthia via email before I got my piercing, about almost all of the details involved in the piercing process, but it was just great to talk to her in person. She was totally amazing and I was incredibly comfortable with her once we started talking. She gave me amazing advice and was surprisingly gentle (compared to the only other clinical-setting I've taken my pants off in...my pap). If it hadn't tickled I wouldn't have felt anything probably, as she cleaned and marked. She explained everything she was doing, and you could just tell that she loved her job and all the other employees in the shop did too. She was really friendly and the whole process was just FUN. I was laughing the entire time I was in there, we were talking and by the time it was over I didn't want to leave. And if I had to guess, I'd say the woman goes through at LEAST a box of gloves a day! She changed her gloves after each time she touched anything!

I was obviously the only thing that was important to her while she was in the room with me. She gave me my jewelry choices, options on ball sizes, showed me everything she was going to use and explained everything before she did it. Surprising for little control-freak me, I was asking her what was best, she would ask me questions and my only answer was "use/do whatever is going to make it function the way I want it to". We decided on using a larger ball on the bottom and a smaller ball on the top of the internally threaded curved barbell that I had decided to get pierced with. She showed me where she had marked it and asked if it was ok. I laughed and said again that as long as it fulfilled the pleasure requirements, and that it would be straight, she could put it in however she wanted.

She had me take a few deep breaths, and her voice was totally calming. After like my 3rd breath, she pressed, and the needle shot through. My legs twitched a bit, but that was all. It was pretty much painless, more pressure than anything else was all I could feel. She easily slid the jewelry in, which I didn't even feel her do, and screwed the ball onto the jewelry. She gave me a mirror to check everything out and it looked...cool but very odd, but perfectly straight.

The pain level of the piercing was comparable to my eyebrow piercing, although it's hard to gauge pain in that area of your body. I can honestly say it's like nothing I've ever felt before. But it wasn't bad at all. We talked a bit longer and then I walked out, not even feeling the jewelry, albeit a bit sore.

The ride home in my bumpy old jeep was rather interesting...for an hour and a half I was in such exquisite pleasure, but yet said pleasure hurt as well. Getting out of my jeep and walking inside was delightful! And the tinglies I've been getting since the piercing are absolutely HEAVENLY!

2 days later and I'm rather bruised but I haven't bled for over 24 hours now, and if I didn't have any bruising, I don't think I'd be in any pain whatsoever. The piercing and jewelry itself is totally comfortable, and is already giving me much pleasure (see part about tinglies). The only bad thing is that it makes it a bit hard to concentrate sometimes. ;-) It makes it a bit awkward at the moment to try to sleep on my side, as well, as my legs seem to smash things together painfully. I'm praying that will go away soon. Not that I would give up this piercing for the world. I can't wait to be able to use it and see just how wonderful it really is!
