I already had 11 piercings (Tongue, 5 in one ear, 4 in the other – including 2 x 8mm tunnels, and my belly button, as well as loads of temporary play piercings - not a shocking number compared to most people on this site I know but most of those were done myself with proper sterilised equipment - comes in handy having your dad as a vet with autoclaves and sterilised needles when you like piercing yourself)BUT I DO NOT recommend self piercing!! before I thought about getting my clit hood pierced.

I remember always thinking it was a rather interesting thing to have done, and although not unusual now days it still seemed quite secretive and special.
I still don't quite know why I decided to get it done – there are many reasons such as; it had been a whole year since I had a professional piercing: I wanted something new and exciting: I was interested in the possible pleasure from it: I knew it was something my long-term boyfriend would enjoy too etc, so I just decided to go for it!
The only piercing I hadn't done myself was my tongue, which I got done at a piercers close to where I live that I thought was fantastic, when I just turned 17. I went in there and asked if they did it, which they did, and asked pretty much every question about it, which was slightly embarrassing in front of a shop full of people! I was slightly disappointed that the lovely woman who had pierced my tongue, Sarah, wouldn't be doing it, and the other woman (who I had previously found to be quite rude) was the only one who could. But going to another piercer wasn't an option as all the other ones round here have pretty bad horror stories to go with them. Sarah reassured me that liana was a really good pierced, and I left certain that I was going to go through with this.
There was only one problem - I had to be 18 to have it done (which was a week away when I went to ask) and I was going on holiday the day after my birthday anyway, so I didn't book it in before my holiday, and left it until afterwards.
I was excited when I went with the £40 in hand (If only my grandparents knew what I had spent my birthday money on!) to the piercers on the Monday 29th October. I had met up with my boyfriend (he wanted to see me go through pain because I saw him get a tattoo on holiday!) after I finished college, at lunch. I had brought lots of sugary snacks, some wipes to make sure I was "fresh" and some painkillers. Got to the door and. SHUT. Damm I had forgot to check when it was open in all the excitement! It was closed on Mondays.
The next day (Tuesday) I met my boyfriend in town after college, again stuffing down sugary snacks and painkillers, filled with excitement that this was THE day, and again shut! I was fuming! It was meant to be open on Tuesdays? Why wasn't it?! I was on time and everything... and it was now twice I had got my hopes up (and eaten loads of calories I didn't have to!)
The next day (Wednesday) I rung up and they told me the woman would only be in on Saturday, so I decided to just book the thing, so I did, for 12pm on Saturday. Meanwhile every time my friends saw me they would ask if I had it done and I had to explain!
Cut to the chase... got there on Saturday, painkillers, wipes, sugary snacks, ID. Ready to go! I signed the form, she looked at my ID, my boyfriend wished me luck and went into the waiting room. I wasn't nervous (more embarrassed about her seeing my bits!) I got undressed, which was a very odd feeling in front of someone you don't know, laid on the table, she and covered as much up as she could so save my dignity (as I explained my embarrassment – she was lovely about it) and started making small talk.
She wiped me with something VERY cold (antiseptic stuff) - a very strange sensation considering the next thing she put on me was freeze spray (think deep heat on your bits!). She marked it up, I took a look but I didn't really look at the placement – I just wanted it to be in and over! I wish I did now, because its slightly more to the right than the middle.
I remember it started to feel uncomfortable, the painful, then OUCH, then over. Such an indescribable feeling, not like anything I've felt before. Once the bar was in I couldn't feel it at all, and I walked off just fine. There was a bit of blood when I got home, but otherwise it was all good.
Healing was fine...easier and less painful than ears. I cleaned with saline, but I had sex a couple of days after I had it done which was not recommended – I couldn't wait to test it out.
About 3-4 weeks later I wanted a curved bar in it, but getting the balls unscrewed proved to be harder than getting the piercing out. It took me about 45min to get the little bugger undone!
Anyway, a couple of months on and I LOVE IT. It has slightly increased orgasms when using a vibrator but that could be all in the mind. It was possibly the least painful piercing due to no pain after the initial hole being made. I would advise anyone to get it done, I love having my little "pearl in a clam" thing going on down there :)
