After years of admiring hood piercings (I'd wanted one since I was 17 years old), and wondering if I was brave enough to get one, I finally built up the courage six weeks ago. I read just about everything I could get my hands on about it, and decided that the vertical hood piercing was the one I liked most. I went after work one day when I was feeling brave.

I'd had Body Cult in Adelaide recommended to me by friends, and I had met the piercer, Sandy, a couple weeks earlier. Sandy is fantastic. She put my mind at ease so quickly (after getting my tongue pierced when I was 17, I was terrified of getting anything else done, since the piercer at that time messed it up). I called her a couple times before I went in, asked heaps of questions, and to see if I should get a wax done. She said a wax wasn't necessary (I'd always wondered about that), and explained the procedure to me a few times. She told me that there's only 4mm of skin being pierced (but remember all the nerves that are in those 4mm, because I didn't think about that), and most of the time, people say that it didn't hurt nearly as much as they thought it would. When I got there, she closed the shop to make sure that I had lots of privacy and that I felt comfortable. I was more nervous of being half naked in front of her than anything, so I didn't give that much thought to how much it would hurt (I think that's the only mistake I made, because then I was surprised by how much it did hurt).

I went to the piercing room with Sandy, took off my pants and hopped up on the table. She told me to lie down, and she looked to make sure I was able to get the vertical piercing. Then, she drew dots to make sure the piercing would be straight. A clamp isn't used at all. She positioned the needle (which was a bit uncomfortable), and then, pierced. I screamed. And I believe I may have kicked her. The pain was pretty bad, and since I had jumped so much, I made her lose her grip on the needle. But, I was determined to have it done, and so was she, so she just went right back and kept pushing the needle through. I was shaking by the time it was done, but once she showed me the piercing in a mirror, I fell in love with it. There was a small bit of blood, and I felt like my clit was being pinched. But after about 5 minutes, that feeling went away. I had to be a bit careful sitting down that evening, but by the next morning, it hardly even felt tender anymore.

Sandy kept the shop closed for about 20 minutes after my piercing was finished, and let me stay for awhile to make sure everything was alright (and to let me calm down, since I was shaking quite a bit). She told me she's never seen someone react to the piercing like me (she's been piercing for years, and does this particular one a few times a week). She showed me some pretty fun jewelry that I would be able to use eventually, and explained how to clean it.

Seriously, it's been the easiest piercing I've ever had to take care of. Normally, I have problems with piercings healing, and I get scars, and it takes longer than normal. But this was great! All I had to do was wash with Gamophen soap (super cheap) once a day in the shower. It was a bit alarming the first day or so, seeing how swollen it was, but the piercing healed in about two weeks, and after only 3 days, I was able to test it out. It was fun learning how to play with it, and it's definitely made a huge difference to my sex life. I love having it, and it makes me feel a little naughty, knowing that nobody knows about it. It's been a perfect addition, and seeing the look on a guys face when he realizes its there is priceless.

My vertical hood piercing is amazing. It's made orgasms so much more intense, and it's heaps easier to actually HAVE an orgasm now, unlike before. For me personally, I don't constantly feel it, like some people say they do. If people do find out about it, they always ask me lots of questions, and tell me that they've wanted it done for so long. Since I know how much I love it, I always encourage them by telling them exactly what happened with me. I'm so proud of myself for actually going through with it!!
