I decided I wanted do something for myself and to try and get back the spontaneous girl that I knew existed inside. I went for a clitoral hood piercing as I think it looks really pretty and it was nice that nobody else was going to know about this. I'm glad to say that this is one of the fastest healing piercing and can heal in less than four weeks.

I'd done lots of research on the piercing mainly from BME and I checked carefully who I wanted to carry out the piercing. The Bodz website is very informative and they came across as really nice people and I wasn't disappointed when I got to the studio.

I was panicking and terrified at the prospect of my piercing and this didn't help with my day going from bad to worse by getting the wrong train and running late. I was 15 minutes late for my appointment but Shirley (studio manager) understood when I told her about getting the wrong train by mistake and luckily there was still enough time to do my piercing.

Shirley took me into the piercing room to prep me before Carl came into carry out the piercing. Shirley supervises all female genital and nipple piercing. She got me to undress from the waist down and then told me to sit down on the bed with my feet together and my knees flopped down on to the bed. She asked me if I wanted anaesthetic and I readily agreed! She said that it was ok to use anaesthetic on this piercing as it doesn't affect the healing the way it can with other piercings. It only delays the healing process by a day. Shirley sprayed the anaesthetic on me and rubbed it into the area. While we were waiting for the anaesthetic to take place I chatted with Shirley. I was asking her about if the piercing would start hurting once the anaesthetic had worn off but she said there shouldn't be any pain at all. She told me the anaesthetic would be very cold then very warm. Once the tingling had stopped from the anaesthetic she called Carl in.

Carl came in and washed his hands. He then explained to me that with the anaesthetic it would feel like he was holding all the wrong bits but not to worry. Shirley told me it wouldn't hurt but was likely to make me jump. Carl told me to take a deep breath in and then a deep breath out. When I exhaled he pierced me and I did jump as Shirley had predicted. It really didn't hurt and was not worth the fear I had been building up. I think it was just the movement of the piercing that made me jump as I could still feel pressure just not pain.

There was a slight tug when Carl inserted the jewellery and once he had screwed the top of the barbell it was all over. He then left the room after washing his hands again. Shirley gave me a mirror to let me have a look at my new piercing. I was made up, it just looks so pretty. The jewellery was a lot bigger than I expected but this was to compensate for any swelling. Shirley said that if the jewellery is too small then the body can reject the piercing. I have to come back in after four weeks for them to trim the bar down to size for me.

Just before I got dressed Shirley took a sanitary towel from the cupboard and said I should wear it for padding until I had got used to the piercing. I got dressed and then went back on to the shop floor to pay for my fab piercing. Shirley gave me a lollypop and a sticker for being brave. Shirley and Carl were the nicest people. They totally put me at ease with their attitude and their knowledge. It's only been one day but my piercing is ok and is not causing any discomfort. I had a salt bath later that night for 5 minutes as I had been told. Apart form that I am to leave the piercing well alone for three days and then only touch the piercing to clean the jewellery if it gets crusties on it. When I have been going the toilet I have been pouring water on the piercing as Shirley said that if I get urine on it, it may sting and if you leave urine on your skin it goes stale and causes bacteria.

They offer free check ups at Bodz as well if you have any problems or concerns. So not as scared now to go back on Saturday (2 days time) and get my lip pierced, just got to decide on position now middle or side.....
