I have always been into body mods to some extent, just living in a catholic house I was not always able to express myself. I had my ears pierced back when I was 4 and the only additional piercings I was able to convince my parents to let me have was a second hole in each ear. Pretty common in today's society. When I was 15 I asked my parents if I could get my belly button pierced. Of course they said no. After bugging them for 6 months I finally gave up on it. Over time the desire to get my navel pierced subsided and I moved on to craving other piercings.
At A Glance Author anonymous When A week ago Artist Karen Studio Pins and Needlees Location Anaheim, CA I moved out of my parent's house when I was 17 to go to college. As soon as I turned 18, I ran out and get both my nose pierced as well as an ear cartilage. My parents hate both, but so what. I am not living in their house anymore and they need to accept me for who I am. After getting both of these piercings, I knew I was addicted. I wanted more! I had a job interning for an advertising agency so my dress was professional. They let me get away with a little nose stud, but even that turned some heads. I knew if I got anything else on my face, I would be jeopardizing my position. So, I started thinking of other things that I could get done and not show the world. Like I said, I really had no desire to pierce my belly button anymore, nipples don't seem very appealing to me, so I thought that I was out of luck. Luckily for me, I found out that one of my roommates had her hood pierced. I begged her to show me and she did. I instantly fell in love with it and knew I had to have one.
I did some research on BME and decided that I wanted a vertical hood piercing. I loved the way that the barbell looked. It looked cute as well as functional. The horizontal was also appealing, but I liked the vertical better. So, I decided that I would get it done on Friday 8/25/06. I had the money and no reason not to. I also knew that I wanted a couple of days where I wouldn't have to climb stairs up and down to my classes. Friday was perfect. I grabbed my roommate and headed down to the piercing place. She said that it is where she got hers done and they were great so I figured if hers turned out good, so should mine.
When I got to the studio, my heart was pumping. We both walked in and there was a girl there getting her nose pierced. I assured her that it wasn't that bad and that she should do it. When she finished up, I was called back into the room. They wouldn't let my roommate into the room with me. I wish they did, but oh well. So, I was on my own and ready to get pierced. I took off my pants and sat on the edge of the table. The piercer cleaned the area and marked where the piercing was going to go. She put a receiving tube under my hood then placed the needle on the dot. She told me to take in a deep breath and when I let it out, she pierced me.
I am not going to lie, it hurt, but not as bad as I thought it was going to. Once she inserted the barbell in place, it was over. I looked down and I was so happy with myself. I absolutely love it. The placement was perfect and it looked like it was meant to be there. She screwed the bottom ball in place and cleaned me up. I then put on my pants and proceeded to exit the room. I paid, left her a $10.00 tip, and headed out the door.
The ride home was just fine. I didn't feel any discomfort. The next morning it was a bit tender, but nothing real bad. It has been a week since I got it done and I love it more and more each day. I am looking forward to testing it out, but unfortunately I don't have anyone in my life right now. I guess it will be B.O.B.'s job to give it a test run. This is definitely something that I would do again in a heartbeat. It is by far my favorite piercing. The only problem is that I now need another piercing and I am running out of places to put them. Maybe next time will be a Monroe or a Christina. I think a Christina would be hot above my VCH. Maybe we will see.
Happy Piercing!
