If you are having your first piercing ever done, this is the experience to read!

Prior to having my horizontal hood pierced, I had my belly button pierced and my ears pierced. My previous experiences with needles were not that great. I tend to pass out with any shot at the doctor's office and I also passed out with my previous piercings. My basic reasoning for getting this piercing was moreso because my boyfriend influenced me to try for it again.
I really wanted a Christina super bad. I read on BME about the experiences of many girls with the Christina piercing and I was intimidated. I read stories about there being a lot of blood and about girls having many attempts at it because their bodies kept rejecting it. My boyfriend started to drive me to a studio one day and I chickened out before we even left my dorm's parking lot. So then I started to research the hood piercings.
I researched both types of hood piercings, vertical and horizontal. I figured that it would be the greatest decision for me to base on not only the experiences on BME but also by the photos I saw on BME. To me, the horizontal hood piercing seemed a lot prettier, though I was not used to using a ring instead of a barbell. It was also a great decision because the ring would just barely rest on my clit rather than always being on it like the vertical. So I decided on the horizontal.
My boyfriend decided to drive me, just in case if I hurt really bad or passed out afterwards. He also knew of a great studio and a great piercer. I went to a well known studio in Savannah, Georgia called Planet 3. The main piercing artist, Joel, gave me a consultation. He took me into the private room where I then explained how nervous I was and I also explained my prior experiences with needles. Joel is a very cool and very nice man. He was very understanding. He talked in a very calm and soothing voice which calmed me down. He had me lay on the table. I felt like I was at the OB Gyne. He then explained to me that I was a perfect candidate for all three piercings; I still decided to go with the horizontal. He made the marks with the purple marker and then took me back to the register to have me fill out my paper work plus to shake off my nerves. Once that was all set, he took me back into the other room to begin with the procedure.
He explained each of the tools he would be using before piercing me. They were custom made just for Planet 3. He then cleaned me up a few times before getting started. He massaged the tissue in the area in order to losen up my skin. (not in any sexual way =P) He then went about piercing me, still talking in his calm and soothing voice. He had clamped the area, but he was holding it himself and making sure it was loose enough so that it wasn't uncomfortable. He then had me breathe in and out slowly and deeply. He then counted to three and in went the needle. It didn't hurt that bad. It was like having a bee sting or a paper cut. It was a split second. Trust me, I don't handle pain that well. He then cleaned me up again. I didn't pass out! I was so proud of myself.
I left the room and went to go pay. My boyfriend was waiting. The piercing itself was about 39.00 and I tipped an extra 10 dollars.
Maintenance afterwards was quite simple. All I had to do was wash the piercing with soft soap twice a day. It is less likely to get infected because of the location. It is not like I am grabbing my hood area all day =P
For the next few days, the area was a little sore. It was difficult at times to urinate because I hated having to use toilet paper on the area. But it was definitely worth it.
I definitely recommend this piercing. A month has gone by and it looks freaking gorgeous. I love it. I cannot wait to have my next piercing done by Joel either.
I also really recommend the studio Planet 3 in Savannah as well. They were extremely professional and they did a gorgeous job with my piercing. Plus, Joel is such a great guy and was even able to put up with my jabber about being terrified of needles.
In closing, I wish you luck with your future endeavors with regards to the piercings. I do hope that you learned from my experience that it is worth having done. It is a beautiful piercing and it has its rewards in the bedroom as well =]
