I first thought about having a genital piercing when my boyfriend at the time mentioned that one of his previous girlfriends had had it done and it had really transformed things down there for her! This sounded pretty good to me! I therefore started to research female genital piercings pretty much here and on Elayne Angels' website to get a good idea of what I wanted and decided that a vertical hood sounded like the best option.

I am so lucky to live near the London Piercing Clinic which is a great place to go for piercings and information. I was a bit nervous and talked to a female piercer Liz who did all the genital piercings there. I asked her everything I could think of! She answered all my questions about the procedure and the aftercare. I was very impressed with how helpful the staff were and how hygienic everything was. Liz asked me if I would like to have it done now as they weren't too busy but I chickened out and said I needed to think about it a bit more, and pretty much legged it out the shop! d'oh!
Anyway, the next day I finally decided to take the plunge. I went in and Liz was really nice about it. She asked if she could have an apprentice in with me who was learning and I said sure, after all if you're gonna be flashing your bits to one person you might as well flash them to two! Unfortunately I did forget to wear a skirt which made things a bit more embarrassing and I did feel a bit weird undressing and hopping onto this bed like they have at the doctors!
Liz examined me and said that I was suitable for a vertical hood. She had told me she would pierce me with a 14 gauge cbr as these were the best size to start with and were easier to clean during aftercare than a bar. She marked where she wanted to pierce and then put the needle receiving tube in position. She didn't use clamps or forceps. She asked me if I wanted to know when she would pierce me and I said yes. She then said told me that she was going to pierce now! OH MY ******! Having read the experiences here, I still wasn't prepared for how awful the pain was, it was like having a burning hot needle pushed very slowly through your most sensitive area where you can feel the skin parting! It was so painful I arched my back and automatically put my hand down there to stop the pain! Unfortunately I also stopped the piercing when it was almost all the way though but not quite! Oh great! So now I nearly had a hood piercing and I was shaking like a bitch! Liz gently told me off for stopping her hand when it was almost through and then set about trying to find a way to pierce the rest of it! I felt like such a twit! I'm not entirely sure how she did it but I think she had to go from the other side and meet the hole that ran from the base of my hood to about three quarters of the way through it! What I can tell you is that it hurt even more than the first time and I held onto the bed and swore like a trooper, what the people outside the room thought I have no idea! She told me it was done and to just relax for a while before she fitted the jewellery, which also stung like hell. I lay there for a bit recovering while she ran over the aftercare with me. She also gave me an aftercare sheet which was good cos everything she said went in one ear and out the other at this point! It also had her number on it and she told me to call or drop in if I had any problems at all.
After the piercing it didn't hurt at all, unless I pressed it with the seam of my trousers. It hardly swelled at all and it has healed beautifully. I gave it salt washes twice a day for a couple of weeks and then left it alone pretty much. I tried sex in week three with no problem but I have to say I'm not sure how much it really does for me in that way, oh and my boyfriend nearly got his tongue piercing hooked in it the other day!
For anyone thinking of having this done I would say go for it, it's an awesome piercing and it looks so pretty! Liz is a great piercer too if you live near London. Just don't put your hand down there while they're piercing! D'OH!
