When it comes to piercings I tend to be very impulsive. I'm not the type who will do tons of research and give it too much thought. I literally wake up one day, think "I haven't been pierced in quite some time" and the next thing I know I'm on the subway to New Tribe in downtown Toronto, the only place I ever go for all my piercing needs. But with this one it was slightly different as when I got the urge to go below the belt I knew it would have to wait, as in a few weeks I was going on vacation and thought that it wouldn't be a good idea to bring a fresh piercing along with me. So I waited.

When I finally came back, the next day I called up the only friend who knew what I was up to and asked her when she'd be willing to accompany me to get my hood pierced. And then it was set. Less then a week later I met her downtown and ventured to New Tribe.

Given that it was still August, I thought it would be best to wear a skirt as I did not want anything riding up my crotch for the first few days after getting that done. I went in, and the place was rammed. I went up to the desk and whispered that I wanted to get a horizontal hood piercing, the guy smiled and handed me the paper work. I had to wait almost 45 minutes, and that was probably the hardest part of the entire experience. My hands were clammy as the typical pre-piercing thoughts ran through my head. Not that I've ever backed out before but it was nice to have my friend sit next to me and repeat the phrase "do it" about a thousand times before my name was called. That's what friends are for, right?

As I went in, leaving my friend behind, I met my piercer RJ, who might I add, wasn't too hard on the eyes. He led me to one of the back rooms and through talking to him I really calmed down. Not that I could have asked him if it hurts, cause really how was he to know, but he did assure me that a lot of girls go to put their panties back on right after and don't complain about the pain. So there I was, he left me to get undressed and when he came back told me to lie down, he sat at my feet and told me to place my feet on his lap and spread 'em! At first I kind of jerked as you can imagine, it was a little weird to have a guy I just met less then a minute ago to be down there, but RJ was very professional, and in no time at all I was able to relax, and let him proceed.

After examining my anatomy, he informed me whether the horizontal hood piercing would benefit me in any way, and apparently it would so that was a bit of good news. He cleaned it, marked it and went for the clamp, which I'm not sure what was worse, the pinching of putting it on or the shock from the cold of the metal up against my skin. Ok, so there it was, the next step. With needle in hand he told me to take a deep breath and as I exhaled he put the needle through. It wasn't that bad! I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that it didn't hurt, but it was nowhere near as painful as what I was prepared for. It did burn a bit but only for a split second and that was it. My hood was pierced! My mother would be proud! Ok, she'd kill me, but than again what she doesn't know won't hurt her.

He put the captive bead ring in and handed me the mirror. Not bad! As he said, everything folded in rather nicely so it wasn't going to be too painful to go about my day. I then went to put my panties on and it didn't really hurt, could barely feel it. I thought I was going to walk out of there like a cowboy with my legs a meter apart, but that, thank god, was not the case. RJ came back to explain the cleaning procedure, twice a day, sea salt soaks for 5 minutes, perfectly doable, plus when it comes to cleaning my new piercing I always stick to it religiously for the recommended time.

So there it was, all done and on my way out. As I saw my friend sitting in the waiting room I just gave her the thumbs up and we left. I thought I was going to have to go home right away as I didn't know if I was going to be able to walk around too much, but again, to my surprise, we were able to go for some coffee and everything was fine. When I got home I did notice that there was some bleeding but that was expected.

Now 3 months later, I must say that I am glad that I did it and would recommend it to anyone. After hearing all these stories of girls wetting themselves from walking up a flight of stairs I didn't know what to expect, but personally, that is not the case for me. Most of the time I forget that I have it, it's there but I really can't feel it. However, I can say that it is definitely fun, by myself or with a partner. Plus the reaction I get from people when they find out that I have it is priceless, so like I already said, it was totally worth it. If you're thinking of getting it, stop thinking and just get it already! You won't be disappointed, it's a nice little "accessory" to have.
