I had never ever planned on getting a genital piercing, infact, it never even occurred to me until recently. I have a couple of friends who have vertical hood piercings, and so I thought I would look at photos and read other peoples experiences with getting hood piercings on here. It really helped make my mind up about the whole thing, and I loved reading others experiences, so thats why I am here writing about mine.

So, I just started pondering about the idea, and brought it up with my boyfriend. I asked him what he thought about me getting my hood pierced (he knew I wanted another piercing anyway, and told me I could have no more on my face), he was very happy about me wanting this piercing though. He was all for it.
So, straight away I was on the internet searching for a studio to get it done at. I had not long moved to this area, and so I didn't know of any places. One stood out to me though, Labyrinth therapy rooms, which was just a short bus ride away. I had seen it before walking past and so I decided to call and ask if they do female genital piercings. After a few tries, I eventually got through and a woman answered. So, I asked "Do you do female genital piercings". The lady replied "Yes, we do. But you are required to come in for a consultation first, so you can meet the piercer and see where you'll be having it done". This made me feel so much better - usually, you just go in and get it done, and thats it. But she seemed to really care about her clients. I then asked if it'd be a female piercer, I could never have had it done by a male piercer, i'm way too shy for that. She said yes, that it was her who did the piercings. A wave of relief went through me. Then we tried to book a date for the consultation, we ended up booking it that day, at 5pm!
I was getting very excited now, it seemed to be coming together and I knew that soon I would have a beautiful piercing. Now, originally I had planned on getting a vertical hood piercing, I thought it looked prettier and had only really read the experiences of those who had a vertical done.
So later that day, I went in, I had to go in alone as we had no one else to look after the children, apart from my boyfriend. I went in, and was greeted by Lynn. She looked great! This calmed me down even more, I always think it is important for a piercer/tattooist to look presentable. She took me through to the room where they do the piercings (this place has a number of rooms for different things i.e. piercings, tattoos, healing, waxing etc) The room was lovely, but right in the middle was a huge white chair!! I sat down and spoke to Lynn about what I wanted, she pulled out a book that showed pictures of vertical and horizontal hood piercings, and asked which one I wanted, I told her I wanted a vertical, she said she recommends horizontal. The reason for this she said is, the jewellery won't be constantly touching the clitoris, and the horizontal acts as a door knocker on the clitoris, which is especially good during oral, we sat for a bit longer talking, she explained exactly how it would be done and that she only uses nickle jewellery, as it's the safest and just spoke about other piercings, she was so friendly! She also told me to wear BIG knickers, she said she's had so many girls come in wearing tiny thongs, and they go home walking funny. She said, she will also be putting a sanitary pad on me afterwards because it will bleed, so big knickers were necessary, which I kind of guessed anyway.
I went home that night and came back here, reading all the stories about horizontal piercings, it took me a while to decide, I had to keep weighing out the pros and cons of both. I eventually decided to go with what Lynn had suggested. She wasn't saying that there was anything wrong with a vertical piercing, just that people tend to prefer horizontal.
Now, it was time to actually book it. It was a nightmare, as all my family are in Birmingham, so i had to work it round when someone was available to have my kids and when Lynn wasn't busy. Luckily, my sister offered to come down and have them on the Thursday (13th Oct) So that was the date! I rung Lynn and told her the good news and we booked it for 1pm that day.
At first I was extremely excited, but then the nerves started setting in. I couldn't believe what I was going to do! I kept envisaging having to lie their with my legs wide open, and having a stranger mess about with me. But I just had to keep remembering how nice Lynn was, and how much experience she had. The nearer it got, the more my nerves melted away, which shocked me.
The day arrived, and I was very calm, I thought I would be a nervous wreck, but I wasn't! So, me and my boyfriend got ready and left. I turned up, and Lynn was just waiting for the sterilizer to finish, so we took a seat. After a short wait, it was time. She took me and my boyfriend through to the piercing room, and we had a seat. Before she started she got the book out again to showed my boyfriend the pictures of the vertical and horizontal hood piercings, and just briefly told us how it'd be done, whilst she was getting everything ready. She then said (whilst looking away, still getting everything ready) "Take off your pants and hop onto the chair". I thought I would be nervous doing this, but I was totally fine. Not nervous, embarrassed, nothing! Lynn was amazing at making me feel calm. She got me to lie back, and gave me a mirror. We both examined my hood, and she showed me where the piercing will be going. The thing I really liked was that I didn't have to lie there with my legs wide open, I just had to lie with my legs out straight and parted slightly. I always thought that it wasn't necessary to have them wide open, but I do understand that piercers are different.
Lynn uses anesthetic when doing piercings, this is something I was scared about. I had had numbing stuff on my labret piercing, it felt horrible and the piercing was still very very painful! I thought it would be the same with this.
She first explained to me that the anesthetic will burn, it will get very very hot, but should calm down soon after, if not, she has some solution that will calm it instantly. She lay back the chair even more, and started putting the anesthetic on, then she sat the chair up a little more again and covered my bottom half up whilst the anesthetic did it's job. It started to get hotter and hotter, and to some, I can understand it being very painful. But i found it very bearable - I had experienced much more pain down there from having children! This lasted about 2-3 minutes, and then went. She then spoke to me & my boyfriend for 10 minutes, she made sure we were talking the whole time.
After the 10 minutes, it was time to see if I was completely numb. She put the clamps on and explained she was going to squeeze the clamps very hard, this is to see if the anesthetic has worked. She first put them on, I could feel them, but no pain. then she squeezed harder, this time I felt pain, so she took the clamps off immediately and said "More anesthetic"... This time, it didn't burn, it just tickled a lot. Again, we waited and talked whilst I became even more numb.
When it was time this time round, she put the clamps on and now I couldn't feel any pain, but I could feel pressure from the clamps. She lay me back and said, now as you can see there is a poster on the ceiling, I'm going to ask you questions about the poster whilst I pierce you. So, she says "How many UFO's are on the poster?" I answer 3. Then she asked "How many Elephants are on it?" I answer 3. Then she said "Ok, piercing is done". I was amazed! I didn't feel a thing. Obviously I did have it numbed, but she did warn me that a few people still say "OUCH"... I didn't feel a thing, nothing at all. She sat me up and warned that it was bleeding a little. The bleeding didn't bother me at all.
She helped me up & put the sanitary pad in my knickers. I stood up and felt great. She gave me some water and made sure i was feeling fine before leaving. We paid her the £30, and she explained the aftercare and gave me a little big, which included a bag of fine sea salt, an extra sanitary pad and contact info. She also offers a number which you can contact her at any time of the day or night inCase of emergencies with your piercering. We said our byes to each other. Just before going though, we told her we WOULD be back! I was already planning on another genital piercing, even before I'd left.
On my way home, I could feel it. The anesthetic wore off, and it was rubbing a tiny bit, it wasn't painful, but not particularly comfortable. But as soon as I sat down, that went away and didn't return! I could not feel the piercing, I was sure I should be experiencing some sort of pain - but I didn't.
When I got home, it did look as though I had just had a period with the amount of blood there was, but that didn't bother me at all. And the bleeding soon calmed down, and stopped bleeding by the next morning.
3 days later and there is very little swelling, I have touched it a couple of times which makes it feel a little uncomfortable, so I advise to not touch it at all no matter how tempted you are, at least until it is healed up, of course.
I wash it 2-3 times a day with sea salt solutions, and it is doing great. I am so happy that I managed to pluck up the courage to get this done, not many people thought I would. I recommend this piercing to anyone and if there is anyone reading this from England, in any of the midlands area, it is definitely worth travelling to Swadlincote, Derbyshire and going to Labyrinth Therapy rooms. Lynn is amazing! I'm a very happy girl and looking into more female genital piercings!
