I had been wanting my hood pierced for quite awhile. I had done a lot of research about it, and looked at some of the stories on this web site as well as pictures and was going to get it done, but my boyfriend at the time hadn't wanted me to get it done (which really surprised me).. So I held off.. but, after we broke up (which was awhile ago now) and I thought about it some more, I decided, "Hey..Why Not?" So anyways, since there is no studio where I live anymore, I had to wait until I found one that was good and all that, and I was recommended to go to a studio in Moncton while I was there visiting family and friends.

I went. Checked it out, and found the piercer was really nice and decided to go through with it. I walked in, and I immediately seen two guys sitting down waiting for their friend, and then seen three younger girls coming out with who I assumed to be the piercer. They had just gotten their tongues pierced (well, i assumed that after they kept sticking their tongues out at each other and laughing)..they paid for their piercing and then left. The piercer then asked me what he could do for me today. I told him that I would like to get my hood and an ear piercing (I wanted something small done before I went ahead and did my hood).. and he said that was fine. He picked out two identical rings from the cabinet in the main room. He told me he'd be back in a minute, he wanted to go prepare the piercing room (which, in all honesty, I felt he should have done that in front of me since all the other studios I have been to always prepare the jewelery and needles with you there).. but anyways, despite that I still went through with it. He came back after about 5 minutes and we went to the room. I quickly got my ear pierced, then dropped my pants and sat in the chair. He made me feel really comfortable and didn't make things awkward at all, which I was thankful for! I actually thought I'd be really embarrassed and what not, but I actually wasn't even remotely embarrassed and wasn't even all that nervous since I love getting pierced. Anywho, after marking his spot, he put the clamp on, and then told me to take two deep breaths and as I did that he shoved the needle through, then put the jewelery in. Afterwards, again.. I wasn't overly happy since he didn't show me my new piercing with a mirror or anything.. which, every other studio I've been to always has.. but, I shrugged it off and anxiously waited until I got back to my friend's house so I could see my new addition.

Now, I have had alot of different piercings, and I can honestly say my horizontal hood piercing was one of the least painful. It hurt for about 3 seconds and that's all, and like I already mentioned, the clamp part of the procedure didn't hurt at all. My ear piercings were by far more painful, especially my tragus. I thought it'd hurt like mad.. but, it didn't.

As far as healing, it was really easy...I felt it was completely healed after about 3 weeks. I have to say though, sometimes it gets irritated since it's usually constantly rubbing against something or other AND I find that it's a little crooked, although not that bad. I may take it out to get my hood pierced vertically instead, and I wouldn't go back to the same studio. But all in all.. I recommend this piercing to anyone whose ever thought about getting it done but didn't because they thought it'd hurt or look funny or be in the way of sex, but trust me girls, it's easy to heal, it's awesome to look at, and if anything, it improves sex! I love it.

Make sure you go to a really good professional piercing studio. Make sure it's a piercer who you trust! Check around and get

recommendations and if you think something is wrong with the place, get out of there as fast as you can because if you have a gut feeling about it, you're probably right. Also, watch them prepare you needle and jewelery and check the spot they mark to make sure it's the spot where you want it, and last but not least, make sure the place looks clean! The last thing you want is a piercing that's gonna give you trouble, especially this kind of piercing. Oh yes, and don't forget to ask questions! No question is a stupid one, especially if it has to do with after-care or anything of that sort.

Good Luck!
