I have been contemplating getting some sort of genital piercing for a long time now, but have never decided on what to get. Then I saw a picture of a vertical hood piercing, and said that was it for me! I researched on BME and looked at any pictures that I could to get a better idea of what I was going to be piercing (female anatomy is confusing!) and booked an appointment with the local shop I go to, Extreme Underground. I took a shower right before I went and made sure everything was trimmed up, and headed over with my boyfriend. I got to the shop a little early and signed all the forms and paid (only $60 what a deal!).

The yell scared me quite a bit, but the laughter afterwards reminded me of how much relief I feel after each piercing I get, (eyebrow, naval, nose, tongue, and nipple)and how proud of myself I always am for getting through it.
Now on the the procedure.... the piercer finished up the girl he was working on and told me I could come on back. The door to the piercing room was two swinging doors, so he closed them and threw a blanket over it to make sure no one could see in. He asked what I wanted pierced, and I said vertical hood piercing. He then told me that 99% of his clients end up getting a horizontal hood piercing because otherwise the ball of the barbell is constantly rubbing up against their clit, which can at times be uncomfortable. He also said that with a horizontal piercing, you can flip the ring up if you don't want the ball resting directly on your clit, or you could flip it down and get the stimulation you want. Sounded good to me! So I decided a horizontal hood piercing would do just the trick.
He began prepping the room, and told me that this was the most agonizing part of the procedure...the wait. He put some fresh paper towels on the dentist chair, got some bactine, clamps, a fresh needle (which I asked my boyfriend to look at because I'm never able to look at something thats about to be causing me pain...) and some gauze pads. He then told me to drop my pants and hop up on the chair. Me, being the shy girl that I am, had worn an EXTREMELY long tee-shirt so that I wouldn't feel completely naked in front of this strange man, which caused him to chuckle and tell me that there was no need to cover up because he was going to see me anyway :)
Then my nerves began to kick in. I took off my pants and hopped into the chair. He then sat on a couch next to the chair and had me put my feet on his knees. By this point I was already naked, I was feeling no embarrassment whatsoever, I was, however, becoming increasingly concerned that a needle was about to be shoved through the most sensitive area on my body!
He showed me what gauge ring he would be using (14) which was fine with me. He said I could choose between two ring sizes, a slightly smaller one and a slightly bigger one. He said that most girls who get the small one end up getting the bigger one later on, so I decided what the hell, if I'm gonna have a ring down there it might as well be big! The ball on the ring seemed huge, but he said this was so that I could get the most stimulation, and after the piercing was healed I could experiment with different size balls and see how different sizes feel :) So now came the interesting part....
In order to find out where the ring should be positioned, we needed to find where the ball should sit. He placed the ring on me and rubbed the ball around to find where the best spot to put the ring would be. I had him move up and down until DAMN RIGHT THERE! and he marked accordingly. So now that the markings were done, there was only one thing left to do... He reached for the clamps and told me that this would probably be uncomfortable...and he was right. He said that I did not have a lot of skin to work with (which I already knew and was afraid of, hence the title) which meant that he had to pinch a little bit harder and grab as much skin as possible to make sure that the piercing had enough skin to go through. He then lined up the needle and..."HOLY SHIT!"...it took my breath away (my boyfriend said that I actually yelled holy shit AFTER the piercing because during it I had apparently decided to stop breathing)but as soon as the the needle was through there was no more pain. I did not even feel the jewelery being put through. He then broke the needle in front of me and threw it away.
The piercer told me that I could finally relax, and that it was all over. He explained aftercare to me, bactine in the morning, and some diluted dial in the shower (make sure to turn the ring and get all the crusties off) and the piercing should be healed in about 4-6 weeks. He said the rougher I was with it the longer it would take to heal, so my boyfriend is gonna be lonely for awhile...
Overall the actual piercing was extremely quick, and as soon as the needle was through the pain was over. I barely even feel the piercing now, and I am just being careful not to cross my legs (simply because I don't want to find out what hurts and what doesn't right yet) If you are thinking about this piercing do it! You will be so happy you got it! As of yet I haven't experienced any increased stimulation, but once its healed I'm sure it will make everything a lot more fun. Happy Piercing! And TIP Your Piercer!
