Seven months had gone by since my last piercing. I had the urge for a new one, but there wasn't anything that I particularly wanted. I knew I didn't want any more facial piercings (I currently have a nostril stud and its too hard to hide when I need to). I tried to think of something that would heal quickly and wouldn't be visible, but I wasn't having much luck. (I already have my navel, tongue, and nostril done). I started thinking about other people reactions to my piercings, at immediately thought of my dad. Every time I get a new piercing, or one of my extended family members sees one of my old ones, my dad throws out a comment like "who knows what else she has that I don't know about", or "what's next your f**cking clit?". He's just joking around of course, but it got me thinking....why not?

And so I began the task of researching the piercing (thank you BME!). I still wasn't set on it, but I found myself wasting the entire day reading up on it and looking at pictures. I figured that if I didn't do it, I would never get any homework or anything done again. Plus, it seemed like there were no bad reviews of it: reportedly painless and a super-fast healer. So I decided to get it done the next day.

The first place I called to inquire about it only had one piercer: a 22 year old male. I would prefer to be pierced by a female, and 22 just isn't old enough to have that much experience. Plus, their motto: "Not just for sailors or whores anymore"...didn't really make me trust them. So I called the place where I had gotten my nose done last year, and they told me that they no longer did piercings--their piercer opened up her own place, which they gave me the number for.

I called the number and spoke to Andrea, the same girl who did my nose last year. I was very happy with her work, and she said she would do a VCH piercing. She said she does a lot of them, probably because she is a woman so people feel more comfortable with her. She was very clean and professional when I went to her before as well.

So, I put on a skirt (so I wouldn't have to take off my pants) and began my walk to the studio. (I live on a college campus, so parking is virtually impossible). My main concern was that it would hurt to walk back, but I figured I could always call somebody for a ride if it did.

I arrived and the studio and told Andrea what I wanted. She explained the procedure to me and asked me if I had any questions, which I proceeded to assault her with. She was very nice and willing to answer all of my questions. (I even asked her if she had one!...which she does not).

We proceeded into the piercing room where I hopped up onto the table (just like a doctor's office). She showed me the spore test results on the needle and everything before she opened them. I lifted up my skirt and she cleaned the area with something...I'm not sure what. She kept asking me if I was okay, which I was. She didn't use clamps because she said it would be uncomfortable for me, and she has very steady hands. I had read that the clamps were the most painful part anyway, and I knew she was a good piercer, so that was fine by me. She marked where the holes were going to go and asked if I wanted to check them, but I declined. (I decided it would be awkward for some reason, and I trusted her placement as we had discussed it before hand). She told me to breathe in, then out, then in again.

And then the needle went in. It hurt, but only for a second. I made some kind of owww sound and my knees moved a little bit, but no harm was done. I think part of the reason it hurt was because I wasn't scared or nervous. I think the adrenaline present for my other piercings blocked out the pain. She put in the ring (a curved barbell, 12ga), which I didn't feel at all.

As soon as it was I sat right up, which surprised Andrea. I felt no pain or "heat" at all, unlike my other piercings. She went out to the counter as I looked at my new baby and put my underwear back on. I went out to the counter where she gave me my aftercare instructions and I gave her a tip. I'm never sure what proper tipping is for piercings...I gave her $20. $71 for the piercing and the ring and $20 for the tip brought it to a grand total of $91. Well worth it I think.

I had absolutely no problem walking back to my apartment, and was surprised by the lack of soreness and bleeding. (I hadn't bled at all). I only encountered a tiny tiny bit of spotting 2 days later when I went for a run.

I cleaned it twice a day for the first 3 or so days: once with clear, antibacterial soap and once with sea salt soak. After that I cut back to once a day.

Its now been just over a week since I got it done, and I can't even tell its there. I'm ready for another piercing already. Its like this one doesn't even count since it healed so fast and I can't show anybody. I'm planning on getting my tongue web pierced tomorrow. I would have done it yesterday, but Andrea said she doesn't do those, so I have to go somewhere else. You'll probably be able to read about that one next week :-) .

I haven't tried it out sexually yet. I haven't noticed any huge differences just walking around though. Some people have said its very intense at first, but it seems okay to me. I have been aroused a lot recently though...probably thanks to my new piercing.
