I wanted something pierced. I did not know what. I had 2 holes in each lobe and one cartilage piercing. Very plain. I decided I wanted something more interesting.
At A Glance Author ammre When Three months ago Artist Gina Studio Mom's tattoo and piercing Location keene, New Hampshire I was not interested in anything on my face. To quote my mom: "I have never seen a facial piercing that has made anyone look better" (I disagree but considering she's paying for college I'm about to go and outright do something she won't like, besides I kind of like my face just the way it is.) Considering a large amount of piercings tend to be the face that left me with only a few other optional areas. The breasts, the ears, the belly button, and the vagina.
My friend Samm had her nipples pierced and one of the got infected. She just barely got away with keeping her right boob. Needles to say that scared me form doing my nipples. I already had plans for a certain type of ear piercing but that involved a lot more planning and a certain type of jewelry. Compared to today's standards I'm fat, aka. No belly button. That leaves the vagina.
I started to research all the various vaginal piercings you can have. The Christina, the hood, the clit, the labia, the fourchette (sp?) the triangle. The Christina seemed to have conflicts with grooming. The clit had a high risk for nerve damage, NOT something I wanted to risk. The labia would make me feel lopsided if I only got one side done and not the other, and I don't think I could get two done at the same time. (That may be pushing my meager pain tolerance) Besides, while many people like that bionic metal vagina look, I wanted something that accented it not stole the spotlight. If someone is down there, their paying attention to me not the piercing. The fourchette has a high risk of tearing or being rejected. The triangle took specific anatomy, had the chance for nerve damage, and sounded really painful. That left the hood. The nice piece of thin skin right above the clit. That brought me down to one last choice. Vertical or horizontal?
I looked at many pictures of the two choices. I read and read, and read, just as you are doing now. In the end I found I liked the vertical one more to my style. It's more streamline with the "slit" direction. I chose a curved barbell that had a ball at either end making a nice decoration piece. I found the horizontal made the eye stop and focus only on the hoop, and not on the entire package. Also, I heard more stories of the hoop snagging than the curved barbell. I liked how it was nestled looking. The more I thought about it the more it appealed to me. So I find a ride to the parlor (thank you Sean) and I meet Gina my piercer.
We talk for a good 15-20 minutes beforehand. She's gaining my trust. So, I get in the chair lean back and slide down towards the edge. She is still talking to me as she preps me. I find out that she too has her hood done but hers is horizontal. She places little blue dots on my skin, shows them to me in a hand mirror, and asks me if I like it's positioning. Even if I say I do, and I find out later that it's not where I want it, they'll reposition it for free.
She opens the packages with the clamps (and later the one with the needle) in front of me, (after the needle, I sign a paper saying I saw her open the sterile packages.) She clamps me (which honestly I found very, VERY uncomfortable to the point of slight pain) than she tells me to breathe a little bit. Finally, she says "take a deep breath in... now release". While I release the giant breath she slides the needle through. I am forced to quickly take another deep breath to attempt to not focus on the pain. She says I am now pierced.
Now, she puts the barbell though. The threads on the barbell almost hurt as much as the initial piercing. Once the barbell is though the pain subsides. There's only a minor discomfort while dealing with clothing and such. Honestly, the only real pain was the clamps, needle, and threads. Everything after those was discomfort if anything and even that did not last long. She told me how to wash it and take care of it. Than she gave me directions so I would not forget and a package of sea salts. She also gave me a contact number if any thing goes wrong, for any questions, or if I wanted to get the piercing changed or repositioned.
It healed rather quickly. And even though they said to avoid sex within the following 4 weeks, I waited 2 weeks until I saw my boyfriend, and well... long distance relationships, you get what you can when you can. Luckily, the piercing had healed fast, and honestly just a few days afterward it felt rather healed. I did not dare twisting it, or pulling it until a little while later. The vagina and the eye are the only self-cleaning organs. When cleaning it I was told not to go past the inner lips with any soap type things because it could mess up the delicate ph balance. I still take really good care of it. I make sure it's clean, and I check the color (and such) just incase of infection. That's not something I want to risk down there.
As for the idea it gives pleasure, well, you know that feeling when you're wearing tight jeans, and you can wiggle back and forth on the crotch seam. That is the feeling when you're wearing not _as_ tight jeans and you have the piercing. I hear it only lasts about 6 months until your body gets used to the ball resting on the clit and you go back to regular sensitivity... I have yet to hit the 6 month mark.
Lecture has gotten harder to sit through.
