After I got my belly pierced in 1997 I vowed NO MORE PIERCINGS! It was so painful and took over 6 months to heal that I didnt think I could face going through it again.

So, I made do with 4 tattoos and that was it.... or so I thought!

A couple of weeks ago I was reading a magazine and there was an article 'Diary of a Clitoral Piercing'. I read, and re-read this about 10 times and that was it! My mind was made up! I was going to get this done asap!

The next day at lunchtime, me & a friend went out into the carpark to make the appointment! To be honest I found this the most embarassing part of my whole experience!! But Claire, the piercer was really laid back about it and explained about vertical & horizontal positions and we agreed I would come in that w/end at 10am to go over the procedure and see how I felt about it!

In the 3 days leading up to Saturday I was on the web non stop putting out searches for Clitoral Piercings. I found the BME website and have to say it was invaluable! I read every single experience on Clitoral Hoods and knew I was ready! I now feel I am an expert on this kind of piercing - the stories were so helpful!

So Saturday came. I went to the body piercing shop with 2 of my friends and met Claire. She took me into the piercing room and we sat down and she explained the whole procedure and told me about her own experience getting her hood pierced. She was absolutely great at getting me to relax and not feel so nervous. After I had decided that we would be going ahead I went back into the shop to fill out the paperwork.

Paperwork finished with we went into the studio to go ahead! I had to lay down on the bed with the soles of my feet touching. Suprisingly enough I didnt feel embarassed or at all uncomfortable. Claire explained every step of the procedure. She first checked to see which piercing I was suitable for. I was fine for both a vertical & a horizontal. I opted for the vertical.

Next she cleaned the area with an iodine patch and then drew on the holes. Claire had already told me at this point she prefers not to use anaesthetic as it can cause frostbite! As i'm not very good with pain I was starting to get slightly worried!

Now it was time for the actual piercing. Claire got me deep breathing and after about 3 or 4 breaths she pushed the needle through! It was slightly painful and made me cry out, which got my friends shouting through the curtain to see if I was ok! I have to say it hurt for about 1/2 a second! Maybe not even that! I felt her threading the ring through and that was it! Over with! Claire cleaned up the small amount of blood there was and I laid on the bed for a bit as I had come over a bit dizzy (Im a bit of a wimp at heart!).

I sat up and had a cup of water while she went over all the aftercare procedure. I was given free saline solution, provon soap and a leaflet. I was also given Claires mobile number and told I could call any time day or night if I had a problem with the piercing.

I left the shop walking a bit like a cowboy but feeling great! The piercing does not hurt at all and although was slightly swollen and bruised for the first few days has healed nicely. It is only weeping a tiny bit from the top hole (it has been in 1 1/2 weeks now).

As I am single at the moment I have yet to completely experience my piercing but I can't wait! At least it will give it a good chance to heal!

I have only shown one of my friends (crouching under the table at our local pub!) and she was very impressed and said it was nothing like Some of my friends are quite shocked and I don't think all of them actually believe i got it done! They know how squeamish I am!!

If anyone is thinking of getting it done, all I can so is GO FOR IT!!

I have to say that Claire is the best body piercer I have met and will do her best to make you feel at ease and waits until you feel ready for her to go ahead. The studio has only just opened and is in excellent condition and very very clean.

I completely recommend this shop for anyone in West Sussex!

Feel free to email me any queries! Thanks for reading!
