Out of nowhere about three weeks ago, I decided to get a vertical hood piercing. I read about all the different types of female genital piercings on BME and looked at pictures, and decided that it would be the best all around. I thought about it for a day or two, and on Thursday, I decided that Friday would be it!

I decided to go to Skyline in Arlington, Virginia, because I had gone to the Fredericksburg, Virginia parlor for everything else, and everything had gone so well. My first tattoo, which was an eighteenth birthday present, is a moon, and then I got my nipple done. It migrated due to scar tissue already in the area, and in December, I had to take it out. I plan on getting it redone at some point. Then I got my naval done, which has been a hassle to take care of, but it's just so damn cute. Then I got 2 Aboriginal snakes in a spiral on my lower back. So, I guess something a little more personal and practical was just the next logical step in my adventure...
I called ahead of time to check out busy times, prices, and all the like. The guy I talked to was really nice, and I got the address and directions to the shop from the school I go to. My boyfriend was going to take me, as he has for every other decoration I've opted for. He had been contemplating a genital piercing also, but he was sick, and was just in general being wimpy. He finally decided on the car trip up that he wanted to wait and get it done later.
When I got there, the guy I had called for basic info was there, and although he has been piercing or tattooing for several years, he'd always avoided genitals. But the owner was making him learn, so the guy who pierced me and he went into the room with me. I paid, and signed all the papers. As usual, I refused photographs to be taken. I was still nervous about undressing in front of strangers. They were so nice, and I was actually unbelievably comfortable with them. I don't even go to male doctors, but I lifted up my skirt, took off my panties, and hopped up onto their chair. It was a rather quick process, and although other people disagree, the recieving tube wasn't at all uncomfortable. I felt a slight pinch, but after that there was nothing. I'd heard everything from painless to the worst pain ever, but it was neither. It was much closer to nothing, but a needle going through any part of the body is bound to cause some discomfort. The ring went in easily and painlessly. There was almost no bleeding, but just in case, I had come with a maxi pad. It turned out to be unnecessary, but I'd recommend it just in case.
I bounded out of the room so excitedly that my boyfriend was convinced that he should get a frenum piercing. He was way less brave than me, and insisted that I come in with him. It was more of a desparate cry for reassurance. But he went through with it, and just for the info, he said it was really painless too, but the thought of it was incredibly traumatizing to him.
The healing went extremely smoothly, and it's been by far the easiest one to take care of. I slipped up once and crossed my legs too tightly. The sharp pain stuck in my memory, and I didn't make that mistake again. I was careful using the bathroom, but i never hit it too hard. I live in a dorm, and so cleaning it was sometimes difficult to do privately, but it's been 3 weeks now, and it's completely healed already.
I'd recommend this shop and this piercing. The guys were great--very professional and clean. They told me about their personal genital piercing experiences, one of which was ripped out... The vertical hood ring, which is a 16 gauge, 1/2" CBR, looks great, rubs in a spectacular way during sex, and is just so easy to handle. The frenum is great too! We abstained from sex and oral sex for a week, at which point, we just had to do something. For his piercing, we're using really tight condoms to keep it from getting disturbed, and mine didn't need any work around it. The CBR is so stimulating, I don't think I'm going to switch over to a barbell; it might be too much. And the hoop just looks better.
