I'd thought about a clitoral hood piercing since talking about the idea with a few friends of mine at high school. At 16 years old, it seemed outrageous and appealing. Two of them were keen to do it and I toyed with the idea but never took it very seriously. They went to see a female piercer in town who said she only did them horizontally, which made my decision not to have it done very easy. I like the look of a barbell in a VCH much better than that of a ring in a horizontal clitoral hood. My two friends went ahead and got it done, and reported little trouble apart from one who had sex immediately after having it done. Unsurprising, really. A number of years passed and I had a few other piercings, and began to think again about getting a VCH.
At A Glance Author anonymous When Two years ago Artist Reagan Studio King of Rings Location Bendigo, VIC Australia I was back in my home town for a few weeks and decided to make an appointment at the studio where I'd had my very first "real" piercing done, King of Rings in Bendigo. The place my friends had their hoods pierced was now closed, but it hadn't been the most reputable place in town so it didn't matter. The piercer at King of Rings was Reagan, a girl who I had met once when we were both working a shitty call centre job before I moved away. I don't think she remembered me, but it was funny to imagine her wearing a headset and calling customers "sir" and "ma'am" while she fiddled with their telecommunications. I was also having a Monroe piercing that day, so she put some numbing cream on my face and gave me some on a cotton bud to apply myself for the VCH. I went and had a haircut and returned, and went into the back room with Reagan. She had me take off my pants which was awkward, but not as much as I had expected, and lie on my back on the doctor's table. I had to lie with one l eg straight and the other cocked out to the side, which allowed her ample access without being too humiliating or embarrassing for me. She clamped my hood and went for it; I don't like being given a countdown. It was over in a second, and she had the jewellery through and the ball screwed on without any fumbling. It was amazing how it didn't hurt at all, but I suppose that given the clitoral hood is nothing more than a tiny bit of protective skin, not to mention the fact that it had been numbed, it wasn't really surprising. I put my pants back on sat up to allow her to do the Monroe, which I will post another experience about. I just wore normal jocks that day and didn't have any trouble, although I probably wouldn't recommend anything really lacy. There was a tiny speck of blood in my undies at the end of the day but nothing to concern even the most queasy of people.
As aftercare, I used Protat which I bought from King of Rings, and which has helped me successfully heal every piercing I've ever had. My piercing was never sore and honestly, I felt as though it was already healed by the second day. I cleaned it twice a day with Protat on a cotton bud for a week and then never touched it again. I've never had any trouble at all, I barely remember it's there most of the time. I wanted it for aesthetic rather than sexual purposes, although I have had a few interesting experiences with it. I wear quite small balls on a 16g barbell and am sure that larger balls would increase the impact it has on sex; mostly it just stays out of the way. I've never experienced any extreme discomfort and things like horse riding and walking up stairs don't produce any dizzying effects. I've found the most accidentally fun in wearing tight jeans where the stitching applies pressure to the piercing. In the first months of having it I did sometimes get a shock when I brushed against something but it was never painful or uncomfortable: simply more of a cheeky reminder about what lies beneath.
I'd really recommend this piercing. It's dainty and beautiful and something very personal, only a few people know that I have it, limited only to boyfriends and close friends who are pierced themselves. It also healed the most quickly and painlessly of any of my piercings. I've had it for two years now and I really don't think I'll ever take it out. I would also highly recommend Reagan and King of Rings in Bendigo. I will continue saving myself to get my piercings done there as I really trust them and it's become kind of a tradition for me. The VCH is a rad piercing, and with so much available in terms of jewellery, is sure to suit just about everyone.
