One month ago I got my PA. This was not my first piercing, as I have both nipples pierced and my ear is gauged to an 8. I have wanted to do this for over a decade but I was always with someone that did not want me to or did not want me to pay more than 20 bucks for a piercing. I am now married to a wonderful woman who has her nipples and her tongue pierced and she was fully supportive of my getting a PA.

I went to American Graffiti on a Tuesday to get the piercing. They had done all of my wifes piercings, and two of her tattoos as well as my nipples and I had nothing but positive experiences at this shop. I had done a considerable amount of research and knew to go no smaller than a 10 ga. Looking back now I wish I had chosen an 8 or 6 gauge, but I was intimidated by the thought of a piercing that large and chose the 10 gauge. I chose a segment ring as my initial jewelry, which ended up being a more trouble than it was worth, but more on that later.

My wife had planned to watch the piercing, but discovered that she had forgotten her medication at home and had to leave to get it and did not return in time to see the procedure. Andy was very good at setting my mind at ease. He told me that the pain would be less than my nipples, and on that account he was correct. Andy freehanded my piercing, not using a receiving tube. The placement of the needle was a bit uncomfortable and the the pain of the actual piercing was more like "what was that?" than anything else. I was pretty taken aback by the amount of blood after the piercing and I bleed pretty much continuously for the next 14 to 16 hours. I am glad that my wife was not present because the sight of a lot of blood makes her queasy. But other than that it was lacking in any real trauma.

For the first 48 hours, the piercing was tender, but pissing was not as bad as I had heard or read about. I did salt soaks on it regularly and I believe that was why I healed so well. After the fact I was told that I should have also used lavender oil to speed the healing, and I will do that with the next piercing I get. The real problem came with the segmented ring. I don't know if it was a defect in the ring or just the nature of that particular type, but my segment was loose. This was the most uncomfortable and painful aspect of the piercing. The segment was beveled and as such had sharp points at both tips. More times than not when the ring spun through my urethra or through the piercing the segment was off center and so I would get a very painful poking. I went back to Andy several days later and he looked at the ring, took out the segment and attempted to tighten the ring. All of this was to no avail and after 10 days he replaced it free of charge with a captive ball ri ng and I have had no problems related to the jewelry.

After 4 days, even with the segmented ring, I was able to have sex with a condom on. After I got the captive ball, I was able to have sex with no discomfort and after 14 days without a condom. I have had zero infection and very little lymphing. There is absolutely no pain now and there wasn't any at all after the first 2 weeks. Pissing has also been very trouble free. Piss only comes out through the front. It does run down the ring a bit and so I have to stand at the toilet a bit longer, but other than that, no worries.

Now that I have had the PA for a month I am sad that I waited so long. The sensation for me during sex is better than it ever was without the piercing, and my wife reports experiencing better climaxes than she has ever had in her life. I plan on putting in a larger gauge soon, and have noticed that with the ring I have now I can easily stretch the hole. My plan is to go to a 6 gauge next and then get one of the curved bars with a 3/4 in. ball from The Chain Gang. If you are toying with the idea of getting a PA, quit toying and get to it. The pain is nominal and the pay off in the end is worth any discomfort I had, even with the segmented ring.

I am already contemplating my next piercing, which I think will be a frenum ladder.
