When I decided to get a pa over a year ago I wasn't sure how large of a gauge I would eventually want to keep long term. After the initial healing, and some stretching, I decided to stretch up to the next size. The initialy piercing was done at 6 ga--at the time I wanted something more substantial than the standard 12 or 10 and heard that it was more comfortable and healed better.

The 4 ga stretch I decided to have done at my piercing studio just to be safe and know that I wasn't going to injure myself if things were not quite ready. As it turned out things had not stretched as much as I thought and the taper really hurt worse than the original piercing! The 4 ga seemed like a huge ring! Funny how the size seems to shrink over time as you accustom yourself to the appearance and feel!
That experience taught me to be more patient and not rush things along. I read on this sight and heard from one of the piercers at my studio that playing with the pa and pulling on it in the shower was a painless means of stretching the hole over time. Since I usually beat off on a regular basis, that also helped to stretch things in a pleasureable way. About six months after getting the 4 ga it seemed quite loose and I felt like it was time to consider the jump to a 2 ga at last! The only problem I encountered was that alot of studios do not carry jewelry over a size 4 ga! So, I called around to various studios and a few other shops to try to locate a 2 ga stainless circular barbell. None had one in stock and most said they could special order me one, but it would take several weeks and the cost was another big factor. I found the average price was going to be about $65 plus shipping. I felt I could do better elsewhere.
It only took a few minutes searching the internet to find some online sites that sold my type jewelry. A note to anyone who is considering this, you are wise to shop around and compare. There are alot of dealers who sell inferior quality jewelry for nearly as much as the better quality lines. It is always good to verify that the jewelry is solid metal, not hollow tubing and that the balls, in the case of a barbell, are internally threaded.
I found the jewelry I wanted online and the total cost including the shipping was only $51 and it was sent express mail to boot! I was like a little kid waiting for the thing to come in the mail. When it arrived I was a bit aprehensive when I saw again what a 2 ga ring looks like! I started to have some misgivings, but remembered how big the 4 had looked and that now it seemed small. So, I removed the sterilized ring from the sealed plastic pouch and soaked it in alcohol.
Since I was going to do this stretch myself I followed the advice of a friend and did it in the shower. After standing under the hot water for several minutes and playing with the old pa I made sure things were clean and moved freely. I backed out of the water and carefully removed the top ball of the 4 ga ring that was in my penis. I picked up the new 2 ga ring and removed one ball from the end of the ring and rinsed off the alcohol and applied a small amount of sterile gelly. I started the insertion by backing the old ring out and pushing the new one through from the end of the penis and out the bottom. The old 4 ga just slid right out and the 2 ga went in without any discomfort! I was expecting to feel the larger gauge stretch my urethra more, but things must have been very pliable since I didn't even feel it. The only sensation I felt was the cold metal gliding through the end of my dick! The harder trick was replacing the ball on the end of the jewelry with lube on my f ingers.....it was something I hadn't thought about and was rather humorous! After a couple tries I managed to get the ball threaded right and tightened on the end of the ring.
Whoa, it did feel considerably heavier hanging down! And it fit tighter so I didn't have as much "flopping" around as before. The first time I beat off was very different as well. Whereas the 4 ga had stretched and was very loose and cum came out both holes, this time things were highly pressurized and shot out the end! It was a surprise since I was prepared for it to still come out of both openings. urination was also the same.....wasn't uncomfortable just easier to direct.
I would recommend a larger gauge to anyone with a pa. The added weight and the increased sensation the jewelry gives to sexual activity is incredible. Plus, the larger gauges do not tend to pinch like the smaller ones have a tendency to do. It also seems easier to take the jewelry out and put it back in with a larger gauge since the hole stays open better when healed.
Now I'm not sure how much bigger I want to take this, but I don't want to go too large. I'm content for now with the 2 ga and might consider a 0 down the road.
