Back in 2001, I was 19 years old. I had my labret piercing, a tattoo, and as far as I can remember, a pretty relaxed attitude to both of them. Who would've thought I'd end up where I am today? Certainly not me!
When a friend of mine, Karsten, started talking to me about genital piercing, I have to admit I was ever so freaked out at first. After listening to him go on and on about it for a while, he showed me www.bmezine.com, and the male genital section. I was mesmerized, and some serious "what if I.." thoughts came up.
I think it was only a matter of days before I got an appointment at my local piercing studio, Rusty Needle. A few weeks later, I came back. Sitting there, waiting for my turn to get a new hole, I was 50/50 terrified and ecstatic. After giving the last customer her info-sheets and verbal instructions, Erik, the piercer, asked me if it was ok with me that his apprentice Camilla joined in to learn.. Man, he could've asked me if it was ok for him to send it live on TV and it wouldn't have been a problem. I was psyched!
Five minutes passed, and I was sitting on the end of a bench pretty similar to the one my doctor uses. I felt like a bit of a dickhead, seeing as how my ..bits.. looked more like a vagina than a penis. Didn't know a dick could be that small, without it involving large amounts of really cold water! But hey, I suppose a big hard-on would be a bit more embarrassing.
I was told some stuff that I think is complete and utter bullshit at this point, but it made sense at the time. Erik said he was putting some topical anesthetics on me, but I hear rumors that he uses xylocaine (Xylocaine cream by the way, most frequently used for insect bites etc.. NOT what I consider topical in a genital-piercing context! Then again, I can't be sure about this, and it's only one guy's thoughts/opinions.).
He said that for it to have maximum effect it should be left on for an hour, but leaving it for 40 minutes would have almost the same effect (I'm thinking he was describing EMLA, but as far as I noticed he didn't use anything to cover the cream, hence, if it was EMLA, it wouldn't really do much good..). I'm kind of sensitive to other people touching me, so the pain was outrageous! As far as I can remember, Erik used a needle receiver, and my first piece of jewelry was a 12ga bcr (Known by my friends as a cheese-slicer for reasons you can only imagine yourself.), and it took me four or five days for it to stop being painful.
After listening to some of my buddies telling me how I needed a larger gauge for it to be ..of any use.., I decided to try and stretch it. The first stretch was from 1.6 to 2.4 mm, and it was just about as bad as I had anticipated. This was done at the studio by Erik. Actually, the first two stretches were done at the studio, and they were both quite painful. After the second stretch, I decided on stretching at home. The first time I did this was such a relief. It was nice to be able to control the pain, and control when I needed to slow down myself. With this positive surprise in mind, I was able to stretch to 4ga (6mm) jewelry in a hole which my piercer had told me would never stretch past a 6ga (4mm). I did this in under a year.
Ok, while this sound all good though, I should mention that while stretching from 4-5mm, the skin around the PA burst, and it had to be re-healed. I would be lying if I said that wasn't painful.. But then, stretching past what the skin is capable of always will be. At this point, the hole has grown some scar tissue from the overstretching, but it has also "grown" by itself into a 8mm hole, which is kind of neat! To conclude this experience, I want to say that in the beginning my p.a. didn't really fulfill my anticipations at all.
The sex was pretty much the same, and at some points it even hurt a fair amount, in a non-pleasant way, making the sex a whole lot worse! However, as I started upsizing to bigger and bigger gauges, it got better, and now, I love it! Although it sometimes can be a bit painful, I have become accustomed to it, and It's a sort of pleasure in the pain! I would definitely recommend a P.A. to any guy who'd ask, but then again, people are different!
