I didn't really want a facial or nipple piercing to start with, so that just leaves genital. The idea of a PA appealed to me, so I decided to go ahead for it.
The night I decided to do it was an impulse (I had long ago decided to do it, but I never specified when). It was a weeknight and about an hour and a half before they closed. I got to the shop. Told them what I wanted. Signed the forms. Laughed when the girls waiting get their tongues done cringed and looked pained. "Why are YOU cringing?..." After a very anxious 45 minute wait, which really was annoying. Bit of advice, make an appointment...sitting there and just waiting and waiting really allows the suspense to build,(of course that will also prevent you from backing out I guess). I got called back to a little room with a reclining dentist-type chair. This was the same place I got my tattoo, and I knew it was very clean and very well-run.
Once in the room, it took a few minutes for the piercer to get set up. He had me lie down and pull myself out. While he was preparing stuff he explained the procedure. First a receiving tube goes down the urethra to catch the needle. Next the needle is pressed through. Then the jewelry is inserted and you're done. Simple enough. He placed one of those blue sterile paper tiles over me (with a hole torn out of the middle). Next was the receiving tube, rumored to be the most unpleasant part of the procedure. Yes, it was unpleasant. The closest thing I can think of to compare is to imagine someone with very sharp fingernails pinching the very tip of your penis very, very hard. The tube went down my urethra and burned a bit. The piercer then explained that the needle was next. I lied back had about two seconds for a breath. Then it was the single most intense pain that I have ever felt. But since the pain was so brief, roughly three seconds or so, it was pretty ea sy to tolerate. Next, threading the 10 gauge ring through was a breeze since I was still in a massive adrenaline rush from the previous pain. He placed a paper towel over the piercing and pulled his glove off, so that my penis was now in a rubber glove pouch. "Wash it with soap and water three times a day. Dress very comfortably. Call me if you have any questions." I asked if there was anything else to do, and he told me a saltwater solution would help it stay clean and heal. Also, it will stretch easily. And I could step up to a 8 or 6 gauge.
I got dressed, paid the man, and walked out of the room with quite a rush. Once in the front of the shop, I got stopped by a guy, "Word is you just got a PA?"..yea. And he says "I've been wanting to get one, but they're closing now, so what was the receiving tube like?" I gave him the above description, and added that I thought the receiving tube was nothing compared to the needle, but again, it IS brief so it shouldn't be a deterrent.
I left the shop, went and played pool for an hour or two. When I got home, yes there was blood. I took a shower (which didn't hurt, though I expected it to). Also urination didn't hurt either and it felt better afterwards. Mostly it's just moving very carefully to avoid sudden pain. And the bleeding, just annoying and mess through day one. I'm sure the fact that I had class and had to walk a good ways across campus didn't help the situation. I'm sure it you just took it easy and didn't do much the day after, you would be fine.
I'm at the end of day two, and I don't think it's going to bleed anymore. I only have to be careful sitting down. Even considering it's not even healed yet, I'm VERY happy with it. Everyone that hears about it wants to see it. And it's healing very quickly. I like the feeling and looks of it. And my girlfriend loves it. I can't wait to try it out, but I'm going to TRY to wait the month or two for it to heal fully. Having an infection is not something I want to experience. Now i'm thinking about what I want to get done next. If you're going to do something, do it right and go all out.
