I'm not exactly sure what compelled me to get a genital piercing as my initiation into the piercing world. From what I'd heard from the couple of friends with PAs I thought it would hurt like hell and be rather annoying to heal. Turns out they were wrong on both counts, much to my relief. The piercing was neither painful nor did it take very long to heal by any measure of time or pain.
At A Glance Author forge Contact forge@bme.anon When Six months ago Artist Alex Studio Comes A Time Location Fairfax, VA I decided to go to Comes A Time because they were local, had been there for several years, had a good reputation, and I was familiar with the shop having gotten several tattoos there previously. The local part was a major thing for me, I wanted to be able to get there quickly if anything should go wrong with the healing process. I think that's a fairly good concern to have no matter how good your piercer is, a bump at the wrong angle can start rejection or scarring and then what do you have...
I went on a Sunday afternoon after I got off of work. My weekend was Monday and Tuesday so I thought it was best to give myself a couple days to rest and not have to walk around much so that I would give my poor abused penis a head start on healing. I went to the bank to make sure I had enough cash to cover what I was getting (I'd called beforehand just to make sure I'd be able to cover it), took a shower so I wouldn't offend anybody at the shop, and put on some really comfy boxers and baggy pants so I wouldn't be rubbing on myself for the rest of the day. All set now, I got in my car and drove the short trip to the studio.
Upon entering the studio I heard a loud "Just a sec!" and then saw Alex poke his head out from around a curtain. He told me it'd be a few minutes before he finished the piercing he was working on (a hood piercing on what turned out to be a stunning redhead, made me feel less sorry for him about having to deal with my penis). I sat in the waiting area, flipped through a couple portfolios with photos and comments, listened to the banter from the other room, looked at the jewelry case...just waiting for my turn. Few minutes later he was ringing the lovely lady before me up and told me if I was ready we could go back right now.
This was my first piercing so I was somewhat nervous. I have no problem with needles but it was just something about this being a PIERCING and not something for blood work or a flu shot. Alex was very nice about everything, showed me the tools he was going to use, put fresh paper on the examining "bench", explained the procedure while he was getting ready, and basically joked around. Made me feel much more comfortable about the whole thing. Couple minutes after setting up and changing gloves again he told me he was ready to go and to hop up on the bench. So I dropped the pants, hopped up, and let Alex take over from there.
He measured the area, marked off where he was going to pierce, and asked what gauge I'd prefer. I told him I'd like to start at 10 gauge since that seemed not too big or small and we went with a 10 gauge CBR. He changed his gloves again, picked up the receiving tube and started to insert it. This was probably the most uncomfortable part of the whole procedure. Just felt...odd. He told me to take a few deep breaths and then said that he was going to pierce on the exhale of my second breath.
1...inhale...exhale...2...inhale....EXHALE and it was over. I can't even say that it hurt, it just felt cold. Almost as though I could feel the steel of the needle but not the needle itself. Altogether I wouldn't even count it as a bad feeling but just not a feeling I was used to at that point. I felt a bit of tugging as Alex slipped the CBR in and pressed the bead into position in it. He put some gauze on it, taped it up to absorb any bleeding, and told me I was good to go whenever I wanted but to take my time, grab some water if I wanted.
I sat there for a couple minutes staring at my crotch, sort of shocked that I'd actually gone and done this. I had something of a feeling of accomplishment that I'd actually gone and done something which I'd been talking about doing for months. I had some water, pulled my boxers and pants back on, and gingerly hobbled out to the waiting area. I paid Alex, tipped him for doing such a nice job, and took the aftercare sheet he offered me. I listened as he told me about doing salt soaks and to expect some bleeding the first couple of days. I then hobbled back to my car, drove home, and went into the bathroom to remove the gauze.
Good/bad idea. I removed the gauze which had some blood on it already and then proceeded to just bleed for the next fifteen minutes. I finally gave up and just stood over the toilet in the bathroom until it stopped. Then it didn't bleed again. That was it, bleeding was done with. You can all pack up and go, nothing more to see here. Bleeding has left the building. Can't say I was too upset about that, better to get it over and done with than have to worry about your bed's sheets for the next few nights.
Fast forward to the present I've stretched up to a 4 gauge from that initial 10 and am quite happy with it. It feels great, it's nice to have that little extra heft no matter what, and it doesn't have any disadvantages that I've found. A little bit of discomfort months ago for a lot of pleasure now and for however long I have this. I'd happily do this again, it's been a blast having it.
