I was no stranger to self-piercing (read my story entitled "The Wonderful World Of The Pierced Pecker" in the Foreskin Piercing section), but due to me being uncircumcised I'd always been a bit dubious about pushing a needle through my frenum. Instead, I chose to pierce myself slightly to the left of it and where it wouldn't actually come through my foreskin. I wasn't happy though, and I found myself feeling somewhat envious of the circumcised guys pictured in the BME gallery with their perfectly centered PAs. I'd even considered the possibility of performing a self-circumcision, but that seemed a tad too adventurous even by my standards.
I began to weigh up the situation. I didn't want to pierce my frenum because there was a serious-looking vein in the area where the needle would come through. On the other hand, I'd considered self-circumcision, which would obviously sever a lot more veins than a solitary piercing needle would. With this in mind I decided, vein or no vein, I would take a chance on the lesser of the two evils and pierce my frenum.
The next thing was to decide on the gauge of the proposed piercing. My earlier piercings had never exceeded a 1.6mm (14ga) circular barbell. I'd been afraid to stretch up to a thicker gauge because there wasn't much space between the actual piercing and my piss slit. I certainly didn't want to wind up with an unplanned meatotomy! The relocation of my piercing to my frenum would not only allow me to make the hole deeper down my shaft, but also give me the added advantage of moving onto much thicker gauges of jewelry. If I still had any doubts about piercing my frenum, that fact alone was enough to convince me I was doing the right thing.
I sent off to Wildcat in Brighton, for some piercing supplies. I felt it was best to stay with surgical steel Circular Barbells and ordered a 2.4mm (10ga) CBB and a 3.2mm (8ga) CBB. At the time I wasn't sure which "inner diameter" to select. After all, I needed to consider a size that wouldn't feel uncomfortable when my dick was erect. Eventually, I settled for CBBs with an inner diameter of 19mm (¾ inch). This would probably be a little too big, but I figured it'd be best to err on the side of caution.
When my order arrived I couldn't wait to get started. Although I waited until the evening when there was less chance of being disturbed. I went through my usual routine of pre-piercing preparations; I sterilized a 2.4mm (10ga) needle-blade and the corresponding jewelry, by boiling them in water for fifteen minutes. I'd already removed my old jewelry, a week previous, in readiness for this day. I showered, paying particular attention to the area about to be pierced.
Soon, I was sitting naked at my desk with the needle-blade in one hand and my dick in the other. I'd pulled my foreskin back, as far as it would go, and had the needle poised ready to push at an angle into my urethra, and then hopefully, out through the center of my frenum. I was sporting a boner in excitement and anticipation of the metal ring that – if all went according to plan – would be adorning my cock within the next few minutes. I pushed the needle and I felt it biting into the flesh inside my urethra. I guided it through a little more until I saw a ridge of skin rise on my frenum, indicating the area where the needle would emerge, which was also the area I'd intended it to come through. I took a rectangular pencil eraser and pushed it against my frenum so that the needle-blade had something solid to push into. This gave me a little more leverage and soon I felt the needle penetrating the eraser. I was totally amazed at how very little pain there was, or blood for that matter. I'd resigned myself to the thought that there would be a lot of blood seeing as I was pushing the needle through a vein. I figured the blood would probably start flowing once the needle was removed and the ring was in place, but even then, surprisingly enough, there was still very little blood to speak of.
Even putting the jewelry through the piercing proved a lot simpler than I'd imagined. I merely placed it against the end of the needle and pushed it through simply by following the path of the needle. I screwed the ball onto the end of the CBB, and Voila! One perfect Prince Albert piercing! I then went into the bathroom to admire my work in the mirror. My dick looked truly magnificent! I'd always been proud of my piercings, but this was definitely my best. The great thing about PAs is that you don't have to be hung like a horse for them to look good – I'm living proof of that!
I was clearly excited, but resisted the urge to masturbate, I knew from past experiences, that could prove really painful! Instead, I put on a pair of shorts and went to bed, but it took me a while getting to sleep. It's hard when your dick feels like a hunk of lead in your shorts!
The only real pain I experienced was during the first couple of days that followed, when I was taking a piss – especially the first piss of the day, when urine is at its strongest – but I found that by plunging my dick into a jar containing cool water would soothe this. I didn't do this all the time, though, because apparently, urine acts as a kind of natural antiseptic and helps with the healing process. The healing itself was quite rapid and the jewelry never once gave me any discomfort
Other than the "acid piss" sensation, I had no further problems apart from three months later, when I tried to stretch up to wear my 3.2mm (8ga) CBB. I found this was difficult to achieve, even with a stretching pin, and ended up having to redo the piercing in order to wear the larger ring. Actually, this quite surprised me because I'd heard that PA stretching was relatively simple.
Also, I found I had the same problem when I recently moved up to a 4mm (6ga) - again, I needed to re-pierce.
Right now, I'm wearing a 4mm (6ga) Smooth Segment Ring, which gives the awesome appearance of a complete and unbroken ring (great if, like me, you're into the slavery thing). It has a 14mm inner diameter, which I found to be the most comfortable size for me whether my penis is erect or flaccid. I'm hoping to progress to 5mm (4ga) in a couple of months time, and then from there... who knows?
Over the years I've experimented with piercing my foreskin, glans and scrotum, and while I don't profess to be any kind of expert, in my opinion I would say that the PA is the most comfortable of all genital piercings. While on the other end of the scale, I find scrotal piercings to be the most painful/uncomfortable. I initially thought that my foreskin would cause problems for my PA ring, and vice versa, but I'm happy to report that my fears have so far been unfounded. My foreskin still covers the entire head of my flaccid penis, as normal, and my PA ring does not obstruct this in any way whatsoever.
The Prince Albert, in my opinion, is definitely the best piercing a guy can get!
Please note: I have been experimenting with self-piercing for many years now, and although I consider myself experienced at piercing my own body, I would never agree to pierce another person. I would also like to stress that you should always seek the services of a professional body-piercer, who are fully experienced and can advise you on aftercare. Remember, it's best to be safe than sorry!
