Had you mentioned the idea of genital piercings to me a few years back, I would have cringed in disgust. The idea back then, simply wasn't appealing to me. Slowly, but surely however, the idea started to grow on me...not for the functionality purposes of said piercings, but the idea of having adornment in such an area...it just really appealed to me in a sense that I really cannot explain. Unfortunately, not everything turned out so well for me, but you're going to see what NOT to do for a genital piercing...let this be a lesson to you all.

Around 6 months ago, I had gathered up the nerve to finally get a Prince Albert piercing. What you're going to discover, is that, this story is more about a botched piercing, rather than an overall good experience...use this to learn from. I had been looking forward to this piercing for about 6 months prior to getting it done...if only I had known how it was going to turn out at the time
Around 7:00am, I was awake, getting ready to go in for my piercing at the local studio. Seeing as I don't drive, my own father had to drive me in. It got old hearing "you're absolutely insane" every two seconds. To cut to the chase, we got there soon after...good thing, I was getting tired of hearing it from him.
I get into the shop and am greeted by the person at the front desk. I whip out my handy, dandy ID card for proof of age, fill out the paper work, and we're set. I walk into the back room which looks nothing short of a doctor's office. Joe sit's me down, goes over the procedure with me, and tells me what to expect...everything was fine except one thing...they only did the PA piercing in 14ga...and me being stupid and naive at the time, thought it would be ok...I thought wrong.
I drop my drawers, and lay back on the piercing chair. Joe instructed me to take deep breaths and not to watch...I don't listen though, I'm the type that likes to watch my piercings in action, heh heh. At this point, I'll honestly say that the receiving tube is the worst part...and for those of you that have yet to do this, and are planning it, let me explain. The receiving tube is about 4ga - 2ga, and they DO have to stuff that sucker into your urethra...you'd be surprised how stretchy it is, believe me...although it is unpleasant. After he had gotten it in, it was time for the needle, which to be quite honest, was the EASIEST part of the procedure. Soon after, the jewelry followed through, which was also, a breeze, was given aftercare, and I left (with my pants back on...obviously :P).
The first morning after I woke up was really something...it had bled out into my boxers and had soaked through to my sheets. As many of you know, this piercing IS in an area that tends to expand...and you know that 14ga acts almost like a cheese-cutter. About a week later, I had noticed that the piercings was migrating (and yes, it CAN migrate). It had bled out on me for that week entirely, I had done everything I could to take care of it, but the fact remained...it was a 14ga piercing, and they have a tendency to cut through flesh. I was thinking that I could have left it in, and it would have healed, but I know in the back of my head, that it wouldn't have...such a shame too.
Sad as I was, I knew what had to be done...I got out some pliers, undid the ring, and attempted to take it out...it wasn't that simple however. The space where the bead was, was extremely tiny...I knew it was going to take some work. Slowly, I moved the ring out of the mangled piercing. All in all, it took me about a half an hour to remove the ring...no joke. After that, I cleaned the wound up with some antibacterial soap, and proceeded to lay down and take a nap...I was completely worn out after that whole ordeal. Now that I look back on things, I'm kind of glad that I did it. It at least taught me a valuable lesson about genital piercings in general. Hopefully it taught you as well.
I can't say that I don't miss the piercing, because I do. However, I'm making plans to have it redone shortly at a bigger gauge. This is more of a lesson as to why genital piercings SHOULD be done no bigger than 10ga, in my personal opinion. Thanks for taking the time out to read this, and if it helped you in any way, shape, or form in your piercing decision, then I'm glad I got to at least one person. Don't be stupid, go to a reputable shop with competent piercers that know the odds and ends. Take care, and happy modding.
